ESPN and Fox Sports NBA games usually replayed around 8.30-9.30 that night.

There is an awful lot of Lakers game in that list!

Also, ESPN have a bit of Euroleague on in the middle of the night, as well as NBA Action of ESPN, and NBA All Access on Fox Sports.

Overall, a pretty good month of hoops coming up.

I'd be reasonably happy if the Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat games continues for the whole season - it would be an improvement on last year. As far as the NBA games, it's pretty much the usual suspects. Good to see some college hoops on as well, although that usually fires up in Dec.

Euroleague games often replayed in the evening as well as at 5am or around that time.

First Euroleague game on ESPN this Friday @ 8pm, I believe Olympiacos v
Tau Ceramica (11 internationals in that game)

Matt Nielsen (Lietuvos Ritvas), Mark Dickel, Luke Schenscher (both Brose Baskets) and Dave Andersen (CSKA) all in the Euroleague this year.

You can watch Dickel and big Luke on Euroleague.net from 5am (I think!) this Friday morning in their first game of the year.

Not a single friday night NBL game???

I remember last season they used to have the NBL then follow up with a replay of the NBA game shown earlier that day, loved friday night double header.

No they didn't, you're thinking of Wednesdays. The only regular season game shown on Friday night last season was Kings-Dragons in Canberra.

According to the foxsports.com.au TV guide and the Foxtel electronic TV guide, the 29/11 NZ Vs Dragons match has been put back to 10pm thanks to some AFC soccer awards  .

That means a delay of 4 1/2 hours.

Funny I don't recall Fox covering other teams prior to 2003 when the Kings weren't on top of the ladder.
I know the travel thing is a factor but the amount of Kings games on Fox is a joke.

1. Valid Point
2. That's a lazy excuse.

However, i am paying atleast $45 per month to see the NBL team I support aswell, and Foxtel don't get most of their money from advertising or ratings like FTA. Yes, more people may watch Sydney and Melbourne, but many pay extra to see the team they support. One or two games per month is a disgraceful effort. It should switch from Adelaide having 4 games, to Brisbane, to Cairns etc.

It's not got to do with where the audience comes from, it's got to do with where their costs are lowest and the returns are highest.

If you've got a problem with that then I'd strongly recommend letters to FOX to get them to cover more games elsewhere...or...getting the other viable options (such as FTA channels in Perth...) to request the rights to your local teams' games.

So no game on the 05/01 ? The Kings are playing the Tigers.. 1 vs 2 .. I thought this would have been a huge rating game.. but instead Fox shows no game? I guess the Hot Dog eating championship is on that Saturday night so Fox are showing that..

Fox 1 - Football: LIVE A-League Qld v Melbourne
Fox 2 - Tennis : WTA Tour Watsons Trophy
Fox 3 - Cricket: LIVE Test Match S'Africa v W.I

great.. I love how Fox Sports "supports" the NBL.. The A-league fair enough.. but some no rate tennis comp "replay" and a test match between two other countries getting coverage over our basketball league.. it just sucks..

I've got a FOX whinge, too. A month or two back, the whole family was watching one of the Wednesday night games. During one of the breaks (and it must have been early,as the kids are usually in bed before 9) FOX decided that it would be quite appropriate to screen a trailer for Alien vs Predator...including a nice chestburster scene. TWO freaked out kids, one who ended up having nightmares that night.
Consequently, the kids are no longer allowed to watch the basketball on telly...WELL DONE, FOX!

Last week an Austar four page glossy brochure came with one of the edition's of the Cairns Post. It was promoting the sports options (Fox Sports, ESPN, etc.) and, when opened up, the middle 2 pages had a run down on all the Fox Sports attractions : NRL, Cricket, Rugby Union, AFL, Soccer (Premier League and A-League), and Tennis.

Golf was mentioned on the back page but no mention was made of the NBL anywhere in the brochure.

Mr meg has been keen to get rid of FOX for a while now, it's expensive and even the NBA games seem to concentrate on only a few of the same teams week after week. I have resisted because of the NBL, but if it goes, so will FOX from our household, and we will torrent the (very) few other programmes we watch.

well for the NBA games i think they need to give us NBA TV channel that would just help out for more basketball.

for NBL they need to change the deal weather to also try to add sunday or friday games to the mix like over the chrissie break show games after all they got 3 channels and not all are on the tennis

bring back and have Active games as well i hate having to lisson to carfino when i could be lissoning to the coach of my choice in a timeout

Incorrect - at half-time on tonight's game they stated that Melbourne v winner BNE/NZB will be on at 6:30pm AEDST on FOX Sports 3 and Perth v Sydney will be 8:30pm AEDST on Fox 3 as well.

To be honest it'd be nice if they'd just run the games at their normal 7:30pm times in each time zone and still run the double-header, but I guess we'll take whatever we can get.

I am seriously mad ... I have the original basic which gave me the channels I watch and which includes Fox sports 1, 2 and 3 (the old Footy channel). I don't get Fuel.
I'm told to change my plan which naturally jacks up the price I'm paying if I want to keep the channels that I am currently getting ...
AFL is pre season I think ... ours is finals ...
If it is an old AFL repeat ...

Nah the AFL game is a semi-final of the pre-season competition (NAB Cup) between Adelaide and Hawthorn being shown live.

While I don't like the fact the NBL has been bumped to Fuel for that night (don't know if the two ruggers game's are live or repeats) obviously the AFL game is of more national significance and perhaps more importantly Fox pays more than 10 times for the rights to show AFL games than NBL ones.

I'm not sure this is much help to you people in Perth, but all Austar digital customers who are subscribers to their sports package will have access to Fuel TV (channel 516) for the entire day today, to enable them to be able to watch tonight's game live.

I rang up Foxtel and the miserable sods would do nothing to relieve my angst about missing this game live. Seems I'd have to pay for the package to see just the one game. Guess it's either heading down to Carbon or relying on my willpower to avoid the internet while I wait for the delayed telecast.

Note: I have Fox Sports 1, 2 & 3 included in my current package, but not Fuel.

what's happening with NBA PLAYOFFS ON FOX?? It was 2 games on Fox and 2 games on ESPN during the regular season... so when the playoffs come along, why are we getting 4 live american baseball games instead of lebron dunking on gilberts head 4 times a week?

if anyone knows whats up, let us all know. 2 games on sat/sun on espn isnt enough! Lift your game FOXTEL!

I remember something being mumbled about ESPN possibly holding the exclusive Pacific rights to the NBA finals???

What shits me is that Foxtel seem to hook into the US ESPN feed in time for the scheduled live game, but another live game is often finishing up before we see that scheduled game planned by Foxtel. It usually has like 50 seconds left then it moves on to the next game that's advertised. Why can't Foxtel in Australia just show both like in the States as a double header?

Unless there is a rights issue or some cap that Foxtel are allowed to show, it seems stupid to me.

If ESPN has the rights for playoffs over TNT, ABC or any other broadcaster I fail to see the complication of pumping out more games on ESPN, even if they are not live.

Yeah this is what I don't understand too? Especially since we share the telecast with South America and Asia. I assume both those areas would rate basketball highly.

What's happening with Foxtel coverage? I can't find anything on the NBL site about which games are being shown. You'd think they'd be promoting it heavily now with under a week until the start of the season.

edit: found it hidden here: http://www.nbl.com.au/default.aspx?s=broadcast
edit again: no, that'd be for 2007-08. :?

Fox always comes into it after the season has already started and I believe it was mentioned somewhere that they wouldn't start broadcasting games until some time in October this season.

October?......so this is the deal Chuckie has negotiated.....some support.....another NBL failure!

The coverage is even worse than initially thought:

- Only 15 telecasts during the regular season
- First to be shown in round six/week of October 22nd
- Wednesday nights only
- Plus it sounds like Fox can't be bothered replaying NZ games

It's pretty difficult for people to follow their teams when most of them will only see half of their games, assuming they attend all of their home games. It's not like we can rely on the NBL site for coverage. :?

I'm starting to think Chuck is trying to kill the NBL.

I'm glad I no longer have a team I'm passionate about in this league with crap coverage like that.

So from a Wildcats POV that leaves a maximum of 2 games this regular season.

Well hammered, Chuck. Well hammered.

Two? I wish. More like one (vs. Spirit away on 28 January). Three if they show NZ coverage.

Crap - you're right. I need to update my schedule!
(We used to have a game listed @ South on Wed Nov 12th, which has now become our season opener on Sep 17th)

farking shit

the league has one more season and that's it. Without decent coverage the teams will struggle to attract decent sponsorhip dollars.

Hopefully the ABC can come to the party. Reverse sexism is the only reason they show WNBL. The WNBL may survive the NBL.

What is this "reverse sexism" you speak of?

This is one of my pet peeves. Sexism is sexism, no matter which of the sexes it favours. Same for any of the other prejudices you can mention.

And on topic - this sucks big time. The NBL is one of the main reasons I got Austar to start with, now that they've cut coverage back so much I feel definitely ripped off. You can't get me to any more games than I go to, but the sponsors tend to get my business due to TV coverage.
