Can anyone help with some coaching drills for 10-11 year olds, most haven't played competion before, just school carnivals.

I want stuff that's fun-oriented but still gives them the skills to compete.

I don't want set-plays! Thier defence and offence could best be described as "swarming" but it's very effective. I would just like them to improve on things like layups, passing and blocking out without doing boring layup drills and pasing drills.

I tried a google search for coaching but got too many hits and it was taking too long: we start next week!

Make sure you teach the kids basketball is not a 100m dash. Focus on the footwork catching the ball in a J.S. or 1-2, square to the basket and look down the floor before deciding to dribble. It is a reaction for the kids to start dribbling as soon as they catch the ball (which is usually facing the opposite basket) Drill that into the team and you'll make your under 12's rep coach very happy.

PM me with your email address and I'll shoot you over some good beginner drills that I have picked up.

Cheers

Oh, by the way, this should have been posted in the coaching forum.

(mod note - moved accordingly)
