Is there a rule that if you are video taping a junior game (for coaching benefit mainly your team) can the game either be called off or stopped from the opposing team or opposing parent ?

No. Unless the by-laws of your local association or the laws of the land (read: local council, state or federal government) prohibit the action.

Gee is there was a rule, I'd be in deep Sh!@.

I have a huge amount of footage from our last years state championship winning U12's.

when your playing, record it, when recording 2 opposing teams, usually ask the home team

Yeah well i didnt think there was a rule & apparntley a opposition parent complained about having there child filmed last season and obviously they had to stop filming so ...common sense should come into account all the parents would have to do is ask??? Gez whats the world coming too...

Basketball Australia policy is that parents must fill in a release form for their child to be filmed/photographed.

If this is NOT completed, that game can not be taped.

The same policy is now applied to birthday parties. Sad, really.

Well sounds like there could be a lot of litigation going on considering now that most Junior Basketball Tournaments are being photographed by professional groups who are then posting these pictures for a certain period of time on there website.
I couldn't see them getting permission from parents or players of some 1500 people.

All Australian Junior National Basketball Championships require these forms to be signed before they allow the photographer to post these pictures publicly.

Additionally, Basketball WA are now asking all of their Junior State League clubs to have these parents sign them.

So you are saying that players as part of there entrance to competitions are signing there rights to photographers away or else they would not be allowed to play.
Do we know of anyone who has objected to there picture being taken??
I am talking about action shots not the team ones.

I dont know of anyone.

The policy also relates to what information can be put in the caption (ie no distinguishing information - such as full name, address, suburb etc).
