So who are the newcomers to the mens team?
Perhaps a little bit of info on each would be great

Jason Cadee......get to the weight room every day son. A real player. Scoring PG. Can do it all and if he bulks up will be a star.

Arriving:
Jason Cadee, 6' 1" slightly built PG, great Basketball IQ, undoubtably due to his pedigree. Agree with Coach Pete - needs the gym work;
Anthony Drimic, 6' 5" swingman again with another great Oz Basketball pedigree, smart and skilled, will really blossom at the AIS;
Jeromie Hill, 6' 8" Post / PF, strong and aggressive NQlder who will become better as he improves his game-smarts;
Matt Hodgson, 6' 10" Centre who will struggle in first year, however as he builds his strength and skills, could be anything;
Corban Wroe, 6' 2" Guard - haven't seen enough to comment. Heard good things;
Jackson Hussey, a bit undersized (6' 2") to play the 3 spot, should develop into a 2 if he works on his handle and shot. Reminds me of Tyson Demos at the same stage;
Iggy Nujic, pretty athletic slasher with reasonable size ~ 6' 5", needs a lot of work on rounding out his game, possible 3 man.
The youngest in the group, Cameron Bairstow, didn't play 16s last year, however heard some good things about him up in Qld. 6' 9" 15 yo's don't grow on trees, so this is a good gamble.
Leaving / Left:
Clint Steindel - freshman at St Mary's 2009
Christian Salesich - verbal committment to St Louis - August 2010
Shane Harris Tunks - verbal committment to Colorado - August 2010
Dwayne Radcliffe - NW Tasmania - SEABL 2009
Todd Blanchfield - return to NQ, continue trade apprenticeship
Jordan Vanderberg - return to Victoria - playing future unknown
Claybrin McMath - return to SA - playing future unknown

Cameron Bairstow born 1990 big body will struggle at the AIS to soft inside ,like to play away from the contact and the boards !!
Kate Gaze 18/02/1990 Guard New South Wales
Kate Oliver 23/01/1991 Forward New South Wales
Fathers were Mark Gaze and Mark Oliver who played NBL together for Melbourne Tigers in the 1980's.
Is there a pattern emerging?

Is Anthony Drmic, Frank Drmic's brother?

Is Anthony Drmic, Frank Drmic's brother?
Yes ... thus my comment " with another great Oz Basketball pedigree"
You may want to learn to search OzHoops and look at some debate on my claim after the U18s hat he is better than his brother at the same age. Frank was a monster in juniors and at Nationals, Anthony has a lot more polish and more all round game at the same age - IMHO.

Anthony is a great kid and still has so much potential. The best kid in the new group followed by Jeromie hill.
Vandenberg looks to be back at Dandy and will most likely suit up for their YL team

Hopefully the young fella (Anthony Drmic) can go on with it for many years to come, unlike Frank.

Thanks very guys for all your info on these young kids.
The Institute guys have interested me for a long time.
Have loved watching Bogut, Newls, Mills etc progress from this great program.
Just a bit of a shame that we see so few guys go straight into the NBL, yet I guess college ball is probably better for them whilst their still young.

Why are there so many scholarships offered now?? I haven't kept up with the groups for a little while - there used to be only 12 -13. Now there's nearly 20. Must have had a bigi ncrease in funding for the groups

Fucking hell........I used to watch Drmic run the point for the Rangers under 12's when I was in under 16's. I now officially feel old! :x :lol:
Back then you could tell he was going to be good. Never seen someone standout as such a leader in under 12's! Very vocal, and would rally the troops. A coach's dream.

You mean Anthony not Frank right :wink:
Seriously tho, what position will Anthony Drmic play at the AIS?
6'5 at 16yrs old is pretty impressive, wonder whether he'll grow a bit and reach Franks height at 6'7

Realistically he is a 1 or 2 man. With the team he played in last year he was playing 1-2-3. He was down at training tonight with us and was just throwing down tip dunks. Except when he was going up for a dunk and one of our bottom age kids came from behind and swatted the shit out of the ball. Everyone was giving it to him. For those that want to see him possibly play his last game for Dandy against Melbourne in a prac match on Friday, PM me. Playing for Melbourne is Vic Metros other star Iggy H( Don't want to even attempt the surname) who could very well go AIS in 10'

Just saw that Dellavedova, Page and Young have signed to play for St Marys college.
Does that mean that they have one more season playing at the AIS?
09/10 season means November 2009 that they join St Marys right?
We had big Matty H here this year. He has excellent skills, also a good jump shooter. I know he is focused on getting big and strong. Look forward to watching his career pan out

correct. they'll leave at the end of the SEABL season

I used to play against both of them (they both played for Cockburn) Igor has grown to about 6"6, i think he's not athletic to play the 3 spot, more of a combo 3/4. Jackson is to undersized to play 3 but i can see him as a 2 guard but needs to work on his vision and handles if he were to be a combo guard, much better athleticism than Iggy tho

Interesting to note that once again Queensland sends the most number of guys to the AIS and the best the Blaze can come up with for their development player spots are Zac Carter (just an awful player), Antho Olah (this guy doesn't even suit up for games- what's going on?) and of course our other "young gun"in Daniel Joyce

I personally don't think you will see another AIS player head straight to the NBL for a long time.
The kids seem to prefer to get a college education and play US college ball.
You can't blame them, they get paid jack in the NBL
