Hi all, I'm a long-time poster at Hoops SA and venturing out for the first time into Ozhoopsworld:

As a favour for a mate, I'm looking for any info anyone has on a US hoopster, Joe Nixon.

I think he played for the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in the WA State League recently - I'm after feedback of his game, both positive and negative, and/or any other relevant information on him, from anyone who may have seen him play or had anything to do with him while he was here.

Many thanks.

That's the guy - if anyone has any first-hand knowledge/experience of him, I'd be happy to hear of that.

There's a couple of snippets on my similar Hoops SA post here (http://www.hoops.com.au/sa/i.cfm/forumlist/18182/).

Hi there, Joe had a pretty successful season here in WA last year. The team he played on was an expansion team, and a lot was expcted of there imports. Joe was a very active player and from the outside he appeared to be very professional and very fit. This meant he could play out most games. My belief is that he possibly handled the ball to much, but that may have the system that he was in. he has excellent range and can really stroke the ball once he gets going or is set. I thought one of his drawbacks was that he very rarely went to the bucket in the half court. He preferred to shoot pull up jumpers of floaters. While he was pretty good at this, it meant that defenders of similar size where able to disturb his shot. I think that he is use to athleticism allowing him to shott and jump over his defender.

Defensively he was solid without being a standout. If your mate in SA is after a scorer that is a professional, and his team has a good inside presence to draw attention, then Joe should be a decent addition to a team.

Oh, by the way, I coached against Joe this year in the WASBL
