I've always wondered this.
In NBA, ABA, anywhere has there ever been a time where every player bar 4 have fouled out? What happens? Is it like in chess where the first player who fouled out gets to come back in?
Twould be an interesting scenario.
you need to have 2 players on the court, as you need someone to pass the ball to..
it happened in NZBL a few years back, otago finished up with 4 players only

AFAIK a technical is assessed and the last player (who should have been taken out of the game) remains.

so you cant play wit only 4 players?

That was always my understanding. Not sure if that is an NBA only rule or an FIBA only rule or what though. Can't remember.
In NBA summer leagues if you foul out, you can continue to play howver when you foul its 2 shots and possesion

According to FIBA rules (used in NBL, WNBL, ABA, etc), a team must have five players to start the game and must have at least two players to finish the game.
The SEABL had a game last year where AIS were getting thumped by Knox and, with approximately six minutes to play, elected to foul out rather than complete the game. Brad Newley was the only player left on the court for AIS with three minutes left on the clock.
If the team that is unable to complete the game is trailing, the score will stand at the time the game was stopped. If it is leading, the final score will be recorded as 2-0. The game is won by default.

I was on the stats bench for that game. And we didn't know what to do.
It was really stupid. we had to leave the time remaining on the clock.

Where I play, you can start with 3 but have to have 4 by half time esle it's a forfeit.
I think if you've started with the required number, you can finsih with 2. But if you get down to one, it's a forfeit as well coz you can't finish the game
But dont quote me

Correct - you must have 2 players...i.e. one to pass the ball in to the other.
I have refereed 1 game in 11 years where this has happened...and I'd warned both of the nuffers left on the court (who both had 4 fouls) and they were down 20 points not to foul....but they did :?
