According to today's Canberra Times, Basketball Australia will be holding a press conference at 11 this morning to announce the new Opals Coach, Carrie Graf.
I hope the Canberra Times is correct, Graffie deserves a shot, she is one of the finest basketball coaches going round.

Dammit... and i thought Gary Fox was a real chance... !
Will be interesting to see if Graf follows through on past statements and appoints Karen Dalton as A.C.
Interesting times ahead!

She could at least look happy that she got the gig

I'm absolutely thrilled about this! The time is long past for Stirling to step down, and Graf is the only person (in my opinion) to take this team to the next level and kick the crap outta the USA!
If there is a coach who will be able to beat the USA, it's Graf.
Congrats!

Well deserved and she had to be appointed, but as jake11 states, can she smile? I have never seen her smile.
Put a smile on your dial Graffie and stop being so serious!

Congrats Graffie! :D
Chris Lucas' move to be Caps AC now puts him in an interesting spot for the Head coach role at Canberra doesn't it? Given that its been a while since the NAtional Head Coach has coached at WNBL concurrently. Will be interesting.

Now for consistency I hope all of you treat her the same as you treated Jan. If she does not bring back gold in 2010 i hope you are all over her like a cheap suit!

Congratulations to Graf.
(Was there really any other choice?)
She has got a tough period ahead of her though. The engine room of the Opals ain't getting any younger/healthier, and we're yet to see too much evidence of who is going to step up & fill those enormous shoes.
Meanwhile the USA is only going to get stronger over the next 4 years. On the plus side, no one else in the country is as well equipped to coach against the USA as a recent ex-WNBA head coach.
Good choice, and good luck to Carrie.
what are u on about u spud... that has nothing to do with it....(sorry if im off in the wrong direction about this, but it jus seemed ouch,.. to me)
Graffie IS the best choice for the opals, hopefully she brings a new look into the opals team, a new attitude and blood... get rid of some and chick in others.... i wish her and her team the best of luck with our girls... certainly we are better than the boys!!

"they should make some sort of rule that u have to be a normal person and not a dyke etc when u get the job."
If this redneck misogynist attitude is normal?Bring on the dykes!

May I be the first of many to say, go crawl back under what ever rock you came from. I dont know what century your living in but it certainly isnt this one.
gender and sexual preference should make no difference and the best credentialed coach gets the job. Graf is a great coach and deserves this chance.
so cbaref go away.

I think cbaref was in favour of Graf, if it would piss off people like NBLonUTube. :P
But yeah, can we cut down on the 'dyke' talk and ramp up the 'coaching ability' quotient? Kthx
