Start tomorrow at The Flames home court- Sydney UNi Sports and Aquatic Centre.
First game is the AUS W vs NZ W at 8am!!! :?
Heard that NZ W played a local representative team team from Sydney and got their behinds absolutely kicked!! This could be a major beating and maybe even an opportunity for the crowd to see Gretel Tippet dunk the ball again!!!
Boys Aus V NZ at 2pm with the all ASIAN clash of China v Japan in the boys and girls splitting the Aussie games!
Could be fun to watch!!!

saw the aussie vs nz game. what a sad state of affairs NZ bball if that is their national junior team. the future looks dim, very dim.
as for the aussies... greenwood, aldridge, drmic and hussey we're very impressive. Not sure what happened to rowley after the first quarter- injured maybe?
greenwood and hussey showed some excellent range on the shot, while aldridge and drmic proved very hard to contain.
as for nz, their best player was no. 8, who bashed and hit the much bigger aussie post players all game long. no. 4 too tried hard all game long with very little return.

Aussie boys continuing the punishment, this time against the only other team close to their size. Mid way through the 3rd quarter and Australia up by +40. Aldridge and Trist going nuts in front of their local crowd. 5 guys in double figures, Coach Gorris starting to share the time with the younger ones. Hadremanozovic (?) out with a chest infection. Big Sam Rowley with a flat lip and a few stitches from last nights smashing of NZ.

Australia took the foot off the pedal, won by 29, could have been 50.
Great game by Jackson Aldridge 17 pts (4/8 FG, 3/6 3P, 6/7 FT), 5 assists drew 11 fouls; Daniel Trist fouled out with 16 pts @ 64%, Jackson Hussey 14 pts, 4 rebs and 4 steals; Hugh Greenwood 12pts, 6 boards, and 4 assists; Anthony Drmic 11pts, 6 assists; Corban Wroe 10 pts, 4 assists and Sam "Fat Lip" Rowley a fouled out double double, 10 and 10.
Aldridge, Rowley and Trist playing in front of their mates, Sayanora Japan tomorrow!

YT, how did Stephen Rowe play?
Pretty quiet, plays a role well - you know, screening, blocking out etc. He's best as an option on cuts to the basket, rather than trying to create his own shot. We're getting plenty of slashing scores from the first options in Aldridge and Drmic, so not surprising he's not lighting it up. Physically he's a year behind the other guys, so his strength v the bigger Chinese and NZ talls wasn't quite there.

Double gold to the Aussies!!
Men's game was a cracker with the Aussie boys trailing most of the way before hitting the front in the last quarter and sealing the deal by 16 in the end. I could be charitable and say the Chinese team was very "enthusiastic"...or I could tell the truth and say they were the fucking dirtiest team I've seen in a loooooong time. Took the Aussies a while to adjust to the physicality. Greenwood and Aldridge were outstanding. Drmic was tough and all the bigs did well despite being outsized and out elbowed.
Girls game was a non event with the Aussies simply far too good.

Several of them looked way older. They had a pretty handy team and the future looks bright for them. Plenty of size and athleticism
