Sydney beat Perth tonight. Looking forward to the match up of the year Poto v Harrower next week.
Poto has obviously been reading the boards because there wasn't a sign of the negativity in the game tonight, which was great to see. The young team appreciated it and Sydney won.
What a great match up next Friday! Looking forward to seeing the new Poto take it to Harrower!

hahahaha. funniest thing I have read... Glad that we had an impact though! :P
watched the game and the Flames seemingly had the game under wraps a few times over the last 3 quarters after the shocking start in the 1st quarter. But full credit to Perth, they bounced back well after the defeat to Bulleen and to be honest, it was pretty good performance from the lynx girls. Deanna Smith dead-set reminds me of Belinda Snell- just a flat out scorer, rebounder, defender! and that step-back... oooooohhhh to die for! saw it on Friday night, and it looks so much better live!
Some highlights of the game for me- Rhonda Price's HUGE block and re-gather of possession before it went out of bounds! the crowd went berko!!! Afeaki too had a crucial block late in the game on Doc i think. But Price's was special. And of course Doccy's step backs!

Deanna Smith is a freak. Hope she has a go at the WNBA this year.
Liked Rebecca Mercer's game too. Seeing her just reminded me of how much the Flames needs another guard who can actually make plays.
Eva Afeaki seems to have developed a strange habit of being pass-first, shoot-second on offence. It's nice to be unselfish, but when you have her moves and you're somewhat open - shouldn't you go for the score? A couple of turnovers resulted from her trying to pull off low percentage passes.
Price had a good game tonight - I'd say she was even the match winner. Her athleticism bailed the Flames out of some dodgy situations at both ends of the court. The aforementioned block was
All in all, a pretty ho hum game. Dalts better be on the lookout for better perimeter players next season. With Poto being the only shooting threat, it's just so easy to guard the Flames. And as usual, the spotty perimeter defence was there (would you like to try and fight through a couple of screens?)

Rabbit im not sure what game you were watching but Poto sure has not cut down her attitude towards team mates. Perhaps it wasnt as much as in previous games, but i couldnt help but notice poor body language after a turnover, or at times not even joining the team in a huddle (barking orders from a distance) and then walking into a timeout (when others were jogging in).
perhaps this was just magnified by the fact the doccy was so calm. i think her situation, she has more less experienced players than the flames, yet when a player makes an error she is the first to pat them on the back or give a high five. definately a great thing for doccy!

Notice how every person Poto guards has 30 on her!
I used to think Poto was one of the best defenders in the league. I've now resolved that while her team defense (off the ball, help ect) is extremely tight... her one-on-one defense leaves little to be in awe of. Can't wait for the Harrower / Poto match up.... Surely one of the matchups of the season!!!

Ooh... also i might add, that setting aside the Harrower / Poto battle... The rest of the team match-ups will also be interesting. Both have very young teams, led by an experienced point guard.
Personally, i think this game will be decided by the team that does the basics best! Rebound, hustle plays, transition ect. Richards could be a deciding factor in this game.

Can't find too much info on this matchup, does anyone have anything re injuries for either side ?
Reason I ask is the rather inflated looking line on this game ... Bendigo -12.5 point favourite ... Spirit obviosuly has the superior form going in, but even so I pegged them as about a 6-7 point favourite, particularly given the importance of the game to both teams ...
Does Sydney have any major "outs"?
