Should be a great match, If Bendigo win it will give them a lot of confindence before they meet Adelaide in the elimination final the following week. Townsville will really want to sew up second spot.
My Tip, Fire by 1pt.

Haven't looked any further than the ladder, but is this, in a sense, a "nothing" game for Bendigo in terms of advancing their position ? I presume Adelaide has the split on them meaning even if the Spirit won tonight and the Lightning lost, they'd finish 5th ... ?

I see some value in Townsville as the underdog in this one ...

Do you really think Townsville are the underdog's in this one? Bendigo have failed to trouble the Fire at all in their previous two encounters this season. Fire are too big with Crouse, Kerr, Smith and even Cox. Richards has her work cut out for her tonight.

Why this game is not the ABC's game of the week, I don't understand. Who gives a sh%t about Sydney and Dandenong at this stage of the season; they're both out of finals contention. How many games have Sydney had televised this season? It feels like I'm watching them every week! Townsville has had two measley games (both away games) broadcast - and this was way earlier in the season. I think this has contributed to people underestimating the Fire; no one has actually seen them play!

I don't, but my bookmaker does .. the Fire are catching +2.5 points / $2.20 to win straight up ... I'd have priced this one at roughly at "pick" (ie both teams $1.90) or the Fire as slender favourites ... So like I said I think the fact they've been "under dogged" represents value given their edge in motivation in terms of ladder progression, as well as the fact that, yes, they do give the Spirit some matchup problems ...

Agree with you re the lopsided television coverage ... If I were in charge of any basketball programe scheduling I'd be venturing north as often as possible because you're guaranteed a great show up there ... great crowds and good basketball ... But I suppose both fox and ABC are opperating on a fairly short shoe string budget so whatever is closest & cheapest location wise is in ... although tonight's game is in Tasmania !? Yeah, weird ...

The Flames, Lightning & Rangers seem to be on TV almost every week, I agree the Bendigo, Townsville match would be much better to watch tonight but i still think it will be great to see Macca's final game. I hope she scores 30 points, LOL. As for favourites for the Bendigo/Townsville match i thought the Fire would have been heavy favourites. My tip is Fire by 16. And for tonights match the Rangers by 4. Good Luck Macca. :D

TV coverage this season by team (including tonight's game):

7 - Sydney
6 - Adelaide
5 - Canberra, Dandenong
4 - Bendigo
3 - Bulleen, Logan, Townsville
1 - AIS, Perth

My favourite team to watch this year was Logan, Im not sure why i just really enjoyed their telivised games, espically their last game against Adelaide. Maybe it was just because they were a new young team, but i did think they played a good style of basketball. Lets hope they can con Jenny Whittle out of retirement and they will be a tough finals bound team next season.

I am fairly sure (going by memory) that Townsville had only 2, not 3 games this season - vs Dandenong and Logan.

Whilst the ABC's selective coverage is rather suspect - shout outs must go to Darryn Boyd, Narelle Flectcher, Lori Chizik and the sideline crew - you all do a fantastic job week in, week out!!! :abc1: :abc2:

They also showed their loss at Canberra in Round 6. So your memory is SHIT!!!!

Indeed. Love their work. And looking at my list above, I think they've done ok with weighting the games more towards the better teams. Townsville & Bulleen are probably a little under-represented, Sydney is overdone (which is understandable, due to the zero travel factor), but they've got the right idea.

I've done a complete 180 on this game and gone with Bendigo -2.5 ... Don't normally do this but the shortish turnaround for Townsville off that massive game against Canberra could lead to a 'let down' tonight ... Plus Bendigo doesn't sound like they intend sleep-walking through this one ... They have revenge from the 30 point trouncing they copped in Townsville ...

Any livescore from this one? Thought it had started, but the livescore is down.
I agree on Townsville Not beeing the underdog, since Bendingo should bee looking forward to Adelaide game. townsville can secure second today, even if it is a longshoot that they will blow it against Bulleen (i think.) Got Townsville @ 2.70, 3 days ago, i just couldnt get the bookies at that point.

Polar_Bear, check the front page of the WNBL website. They have a news item that the live stats are down, but they may be back up now.
