Wow! Coach Pete seems to be right about this kid, seems to be a real star in the making!
Leading the scoring at the Under 20 nationals.
Just curious to know a bit more about him.
Who is he related to? I know of a Robbie Cadee and a Grant Cadee (player agent I think).
Also what is his background? Looking at his photo on the AIS website, he looks foreign? Has he got any other nationality in him?

From JR's blog:
Jason Cadee (NSW): This kid has basketball in his blood. Both parents have played at the highest level in this country, so you know the kid has savvy.
He has the ability to work the pick and roll to perfection as he has the ability to knock down the three or make the pass to the big man rolling. I have yet to see any other kid who can run the pick and roll and look confident in pulling the trigger from deep.
I'll keep you up to date on how Cadee handles himself against the better opposition as the week progresses.
His parents are Robbie and Debbie Cadee.

Very much Australian I'd expect.
Cadee was originally from Melbourne. He moved up and played for the Bruins in the late 70s, and later coached them. He won an NBL coach of the year award one year. He also coached the Australian women at an Olympics. Robbie was CEO of the Razorbacks until the Bulldogs pulled the pin, and then the Trimedia folks stepped in.

Bankstown boy, through-and-through. Dropped 50 points in the 18 Mens Sydney Championship Final without breaking a sweat. Led Bankstown to an unbeaten year (yes, all the way through State Championships as well). AIS Scholarship holder. If he doesn't play for the Boomers at some stage in his life then I'll be extremely surprised.

Hopefully the result of the GF won't weigh against him.
Qld 111-72 after trailing 24-18 after the 1st.
Unbelievable run from there and look forward to hearing from someone at the game who can shed some light on NSW woes.

Without watching a second of the game you would have think that the QLD AIS influence was just too much? (As much as a great player as Cadee seems to be).

"He was overplayed but was the best they had to keep them doing as well as they did."
is this a fair comment?

Wouldn't surprise me in the least, especially if they were missing Harris-Tunks ;)

Cadee's masterpiece was the semi-final against the Vics where he racked up 33 and numerous assists. Wasn't as hotin the final but that'll happne when your main 'diversion' (Harris-Tunks) is warming with the bench with thongs on (ankle sprain in the semi). NSW battled manfully in the final and were stil in it at half-time (down 40-46) but the depth of the Maroons eventually wore them down and then ran right over the top of them.
Qld were big, talented and extremely well-coached (Froling used an array of bigger guards to wear Cadee down defensively without being overly physical (unlike the Vics the previous night) and go the ball out of his hands very quickly by sending a big at him to double him in the backcourt. Add to this the effort of the Jorden Page at the other end (26 points, 10 assists on a 'poor' shooting night) and it was alwasy going to be a monumental task to roll the Qlders. As good as Cadee was (and after the semi-final I was absolutely gobsmacked) Page is (at this stage and with 12 months longer at the 'Tute under his belt) on another level. Didn't have fantastic game in the final but was still awesome. If we are worried about who might be backing up Patty Mills in London, we may have tolook no further than these two.

Agree wholeheartedly. First saw Page at 16's nats a few years back and it was obvious he was something special. Throw Dellavadova in with those two and theres going to be some healthy competition in the PG spot

So who would be considered the best junior (at this stage) in the country right now?
Dellavedova?
Motum?
Page?
Broekhoff?
Cadee?
Drmic?
Also, Delly seemed to struggle a bit the Nationals. Any reason for this? Could he just not find his shooting touch, or was there an injury?

Bit hard to call and plenty would have different opinions. The kids you mention are all talented players who have a future in the game. The best today might not be the same as the best tomorrow

I can only talk about the top 4 cos i havent seen Drmic or Cadee play.
from the time i saw dellavedova play at 16s nats i have always been impressed. He is a hard worker, calm under pressure and has a sweet stroke. but i think injuries and lack of explosive speed and athleticism put him behind the others.
Motum probably has the most potential, with such great athleticism and length and he will be alot to handle over the coming years. Hopefully he develops his right hand a bit more. But it is scary to think how good he could be in 5 years. I think he was a 'Joe Ingles' project when he came to the AIS, and if he continues improving he could be much better than Ingles in years to come.
I havent seen Page for a while, but obviously he has improved dramatically in the last year. When he first came to the AIS he wasnt very consistant but he has improved in the area lately, and his athleticism is off the charts as well.
For me Broekhoff is the best player. The guy can shoot the lights out, and is starting to develop more of a slashing game. he is a solid defender with his long arms and hopefully he puts on a bit of muscle in the states.
Really it is impossible to split them all, and i found it hard to call one better than the other. But if i was a college coach, id want to recruit broekhoff or Motum. thats my opinion, take it or leave it. Unfortunately i havent had the pleasure of watching Drmic or Cadee play but i will this year at the AIS.

Delly's lack of athleticism may be the only thing that holds him back.
The good thing is there is so many talented players coming up through the ranks we could yet expect a few mor players top pop up on the International stage over the next 5 years or so.

Agree. Motum could be anything, every coach I've talked to raves about him. If Broekhoff can add some strength he'll be a really solid pro player.
The other kid to watch is Hugh Greenwood, 2nd year at the Tute this year and the kid turns 17 next week.
