Here's one story to start of the 2009 IBL season: the new Vancouver (BC) Titans have already changed coaches prior to the season's start with Richard Chambers, Canada's national women's junior coach, resigned due to health problems. Titans GM David Petroziello took over immediately just after signing local recognizable talent, a CanadaWest reunion of sorts, like former SFU PF Richard Anderson, UBC's Casey Archibald, Brian Banham from Langley's TWU, a stone's throw away from the Titan's home court, American Nate Bowie freshly from Central Arkansas, and defensive star from Victoria Tyler Haas.
Titans are now undefeated at 3-0 with all of their wins coming from a developmental USA All-Star squad, having played the first professional basketball games in Vancouver, BC since the NBA's Grizzlies left in the summer of 2001 to Memphis and followed by some aborted attempts in the ABA and CBA. On Easter Sunday, the Titans came from behind to win at their Langley home 115-97 with Nate Bowie exploding for 37 points on 12-22 shooting with seven steals. On the previous two games, they blew them out 121-75 (Saturday) and 122-81 (Friday).
