Which of these tournaments are any of you guys going to over the Victorian Queens Birthday weekend? I know the Classic is on. I'll head to Nunawading after doing Ballarat for a number of years. I find Ballarat is an expensive venture with accommodation, food and petrol included. I can go to Nunawading, be warmer, sleep in my own bed, no extra food, petrol or accommodation costs. Any things we did as a team in Ballarat between games we can still do around Nunawading. I think the weekend in Ballarat would cost about $750 bottom line.

We're heading to Nunawading as well. Not up to the Classic this year. Most of my lot booked airfares months ago because we were doing one or the other but it's still a fairly expensive exercise

A good inexpensive pasta restaurant opposite Nunawading stadium. "Sofias". A word of warning though. Unless you can eat enough for three, order an entree.

Are you talking about NSW teams waiting for "invitations"??? Last time I checked, most Victorian tourneys don't need to send invitations, but are beating the oncomers off with a stick....

Yeah.....we went there last year. I think we could have stayed for another couple of meals and not get through what we ordered

Both my boys are playing at Nuna and I agree that Sofias is good value with a team of rowdy junior boys.
I went there one Saturday night, for my first visit, thinking It would be a nice night eating and drinking but left early due to the noise and snot gobblers running all over the place.
It wasn't offensive, just the nature of a "Family" restaurant.
My boys are in U/18 and U/12.
The U/18s might do OK but my U/12s are actually U/10s, my son is bottom age U/10 so it's very much a learning weekend for them.
Might even put my hand up to ref a few games while I'm there.
Could actually break even over the weekend.

Been to both previously...but generally there are far more teams @ Nunawading and as it is closer to the classics you can get around to them as well. and you usually get the teams that just missed out on the classics playing at Nuna so the top grade there is quite good too (although a step down from the classic).
Very cold in Ballarat at the time of the year too! Like supporting the country associations though...

Keep an eye out for the Sharks 14 boys over the weekend Homer. I'd like to say g'dayJust found out I'll be the coach of my youngest son's U/12 team.
I'm the assistant coach normally but the Head coach has taken the opportunity to
head to Queensland for a long weekend.
This'll test me out, trying to resist giving the refs a spray :)

Argh !!!!!!!!!!!!! got the 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd and now hopefully the final, yeah right,
edition of our draw for the weekend.
Got to coach at Oakleigh at 8.00am Saturday.
Would have been nice to be close to home at that hour of the day.
I suppose it's close to someones home.
Last game on Saturday at 8.40 at Ringwood.
At least a 10.30 start on Sunday is reasonable.
Last game Sunday at 6.10pm.

What a ridiculous over reaction.
Dont blame the clubs. All the STate Governments of SA, NSW and QLD have said that any kids coming back from Victoria MUST be quarantined for 7 days after they arrive home. NO school ! That has a huge impact on the education system so parents would be pulling thier kids out of teams all over the place.
I can also tell you that Nunawading have been getting LOTS of phone calls demanding that it all be called off.
SO NO interstae teams at either the Classic or Nuna. May as well just call it off as all you are going to play are teams in your pools anyway.

I wasnt bagging the clubs but the governments.
Unless you quarantine all people who come from Victoria it isnt going to do squat.
Dad goes to Melbourne for work. Picks it up, takes it home, gives it to child, child attends school, whats the difference??????
I just checked the Vic Health site and there are 521 cases in a population of 4 million.
You have more chance of having a car accident.

Sorry, I didnt mean to say you were, just clarifying the fact that the Gov is over reacting and being pushed along by a moronic media.
Did yo know that normal flu kills 2000 + Australins every year ? Its all a massive beat up.
I bet head lice is more rampant that piggy flu.

I agree. I was still keen for the team to come down but when half the parents swallow the propoganda and pull their kids out.............
The kids were all keen for a week off school too :)

You should see the hysteria on hoops.com. Its ridiculous.
Heck, With the Tamiflu medicine the swine flu is gone in 3 days. How many people get over normal flu in 3 days????????And the governments are saying 7 day quarantine. So a kid comes to melbourne, doesnt catch swine flu but has to sit at home for 7 days!!! WTF.
But, his farther comes to Melbourne to watch the Sydney Swans play Hawthorn and he can go back home, kiss and cuddle the kids, go straight back to work and that's ok????
That's why its a ridiculous reaction.

I know someone from here was talking to Tim Morrissey about the issue today. Expect to see some lurid copy in the Daily Smellegraph beating up the situation

Apparently 15 interstate clubs have pulled out of the Classic.
What a joke, this is such a beat up!
I'd be pretty pissed off if my kid missed out on the Classic because the Club decided not to go due to something that's affected 0.0125% of the population and is no worse than the normal winter flu.

Just because I snort when I cough and smell like bacon when I sweat doesn't mean there's something wrong with me!
It probably best that you don't show, your U14's wouldn't have been able to cope with being beaten by the Vic teams again at the Spectres Tourney, it just too demoralising!!!

We've become quite used to losing this season thanks all the same.........might have been nice to lose to someone new.....

My u/12s are 1 & 2 after three games.
First game was a shocker but they have improved over the three so I'm not too upset.
They are in it strictly for development so in that respect, it's successful so far.
Have seen a number of SA teams around the traps.
N/Adel. Rockets and Forestville are both here and Southern Tigers, where ever they are from.
Get a sleep in on Sunday, 10.30 start is reasonable.
Totally agree, total government/press beat up.
The medical experts have no control over this virus.
They aren't even treating confirmed cases now, just telling them to isolate themselves and rest.
