In the Sunday Times there was a little story that Abby Bishop injured her shoulder on the weekend and could be out of action for up to 6 months. Has anyone heard anymore?

It was interesting to read that straight after the game, Abby started the long drive from Rockhampton to Canberra to see a specialist. That can't have been too good for her shoulder.

looks like this will mean more work falling onto the shoulders of tolo and beatty. at least tolo will be up to that challenge. beatty's ability to step up is a bigger concern however

I believe Beatty has an ankle injury herself, but I'm not sure how serious it is or whether she will miss any games.
Before Bishop's injury I was hopeful that Tolo would be in the starting 5 ahead of Beatty, now I don't think we have a choice. If Beatty's injury is going to hamper her game, then Tolo is going to have to carry the Caps in the early part of the season. I thought Tolo was our best tall in last years final series and her improvement, under Graf, over course of the season was most impressive, this could be a good test for Tolo and further development.

Have heard that the Caps have also added young kids Caitlin Rowe and Nicole Romeo to their list. Anyone confirm?

agreed. tolo was mvp in the final and in the grand final i thought she was unlucky not to be mvp there too.
glad she is retunring to the Caps as i think she is definately a player of the future

With Canberra picking up Carly, I wonder how this makes Dandy fans feel. The only reason she is playing in Canberra is to make selection for the World Champs next year, I still can't see Carly making the Australian team with amount of talent we currently have in Australia but her best bet is to play under Coach Graf and see what happens.

Lets see, left Washington after a change of coach, as did a few others, went home then went to Uconn, didn't play there as a transfer and injury, all got a bit to hard and went back to NZ, putting her name and Jacksons in the same sentence is an insult to jackson.

Yeah, Canberra news articles have a problem with always comparing new recruits to Lauren Jackson.

This is an exciting signing for sure, though. I would like to see her sign for the whole season, but still, it will be interesting to see how she goes in the WNBL.

J-Mac was my first friend on 'MY FIBA' webpage, I didn't even know who she was untill now, It is a great signing for Canberra.

Agree - from my limited observations, she's big... and that's it. Should be an adequate fill-in player though.

Anyone know what's going on with Carly Wilson? She has played 3 games this season for a total of 9 pts. First game last week she had 8pts and this weekend she played 2 games for a total of 1pt. I had given her little to no hope of making the Opal's squad for next year's worlds but if this keeps up she will have zero chance, even if she is playing under Graf.

According to the Canberra Times she is suffering from Back Spasms with is hindering what she is able to do on court.

Ok, that makes me wonder why they would be playing her injured and not giving more playing minutes to the younger girls.

According to One Basketball Canberra, Jess McCormack will join the team in Sydney and will suit up for the game against the Lightning. Not sure if she will play against the Flames, though it couldn't hurt.

This should help Canberra's forward rotation immensely. Looking forward to it!

I think Canberra might be looking for a refund on the airfare..Bishops return can't come quick enough..

Congrat's to Tolo who made a triple double with 21pts 13blks & 10rbs against the Fire, I find it a bit strange that on game day she only had 9 rebounds but the final stats say 10, anyway great game for her and a good game to watch as well, the Fire are playing pretty well and will be dangerous with Cox back in the team.

the online stats had her for the triple double... the abc may take their own stats and could have missed one. easily done

Tolo's 13 blocks is the league's all-time high, eclipsing Lauren Jackson's record of 11 from 2000.
One stat that no one has picked up on was Tanya Smith's 16 offensive rebounds was 1 short of the record set by Kathy Foster in 1989.
Two excellent performances in what turned out to be a very good game.

They did mention Smith's rebound count a few times during the match, she was a real monster on the glass, very impressive. I think they should try and go inside to her in the post more often as her body work around the basket is very strong. Again it was a great game to watch.

Tolo has won her second player of the week award for her triple double on Friday night. Well done Marianna.
