Anyone ever had a team do this?
I am interested in experimenting with it.
In your opinion what is essential to execute such an offense and what kind of players would you slot into the positions.

I have had to do it most of my coaching life
I have not been able to obtain a centre, power forward, or a big small forward even, so have had to resort to tactics that i probably wouldnt have otherwise
Basically, i let our offense come from our defense, running and trapping, a 1-2-2 zone that slides all over the place, and all sorts of different looks on the opposition
offensively i run a lot of 4 out, and 5 out motion based offenses, with the big man normally setting a pick and reading where his defender goes (with all smaller types on the court, we focussed on skills, so were able to take any player to the perimeter)
i have found that it is extremely tough to stick to this style... although its good, it can be a heartbreaker. teams can rack up points fast as well. I worked on skills/spacing/intensity from the start, and i guess it has paid off as we are one of the toughest teams in our comp now, with or without our best players.

That's the only offecne my kid's team knows. But because they swarm, both in offence and defence, they get away with it. I don't know how they'll go once they come up against older kids. But, if they stick with it and actually start to listen to me at training, they'll learn other types of offecne!
I just love playing run & gun style game! It is best run with your quickest players and the ones that run the lanes well!
