The Blazers have signed Pat for an undisclosed amount. :D:D
Pat is still injured and has been unable to attend practices before being signed, but is now eligible for all trainings and games.
The news seems to be a shock around a few Portland message boards as only a few days ago, there was a rumor they were going to renounce his rights, making him a free agent. There is the belief that he could be used with another player in a 2 for 1 trade.
Whatever happens out of all this, it's great to see Pat make it finally. All the best to him, and the family, and I know I can't wait to see him on the court.

Absolutely awesome. I've been a little depressed about not seeing him in a Gaels uni for the upcoming season. This makes up for it. I'll hold off buying the jersey until I know where he's headed.
You'd think a trade might be a strong chance. Miller-Blake-Bayless-Patty. Too many PGs you would think
I hope if he does get traded somewhere he sticks.
If by chance he stays at the Blazers I'm definitely gonna try to get to a game.

This is great news... Hopefully he gets traded to somewhere that will need him so he can actually make the contribution that we all know that he can make instead of just sitting down at the end of the bench as a just-in-case-someone-gets-injured player... Great stuff for Patty and his family...

Would they bother signing him if someone didn't need him? Surely the Blazers don't burn a second round pick just to do something like trade cap space? Do they even do that before the season starts?

Apparently they can't trade him for 30 days as he is a freshly signed rookie. They're pretty high on Bayless from my understanding, Miller trade in the works?

To me Andre Miller is a large contract for a guy who I don't think really suits their system, looks a little more out of shape each season and each year slides down further defensively...
Personally, I'd rather go with Blake/Bayless/Mills and deal 'Dre for something they could use more.
Miller would be a BYC player this year wouldnt he? Pretty hard to move.
Walli, they may not have drafted him intending to trade, but since then things have changed (they signed another PG and Patty got injured). They could well have signed him so that they have the flexibility to throw him into a deal (in 30 days).

Good explanation there...Mills forced Portland into signing him! Good for him. they either now give him the 15th spot on the roster or let him walk as a free agent. At least that way they cannot tie him up like has happened to some other Aussies as they stashed them oversees. A trade in 30 days is also the other possible option on the cards. I don't think the Miller trade is an option for Portland.

It's very difficult... but its something I'd be trying to make happen.

And it's official - Mills get the final roster spot. Collins to Phoenix, and Udoka still looking around.

Yes, Mills got tyhe 15th roster spot and has many of the Blazers cvoaching staff a bit miffed...word is the team owner made the decision much to Coach McMillan's disgust who favoured Udoka.
I sense a trade coming, but whether it involves Mills (in 30 days) or someone else, who knows!

News out that the contract may be 2 years worth about $1m. Similar to Big Nate's I would imagine.

All second-round contracts are 2 year deals and I'm pretty sure all for the same amount ($400k+ first season & $700k+ in the second season).

Well done, Patty. I'm surprised at this to be honest, but pleased he will get a shot.
right, I've just bought a ticket to Raptors @ Blazers for March 14th. haha, a long way off but hopefully Patty is getting some court time by then!

how long was the original prognosis for his injury as he has at least been out since early august
I think they're talking about him being on court for January. Dont know if this means D-League or NBA though. Having the contract inked, at least he can concentrate on getting healthy and getting into in form in the D-League.

Blazers forward Nicholas Batum is now out indefinitely due to a shoulder injury that requires surgery. I can see a Blazers trade coming, however Patty cannot be part of a trade for 30 days from the date his contract was signed.
With four PG's on the roster (with Patty unlikely to see any on-court action until the new year), and now short at the forward position in the short term, surely they will seek a trade?

Could just imagine how pissed McMillan would be now...

Apparently he was not happy that Patty was signed as he favoured Udoka. It came down to the team owner - a former PG himself.
Portland can probably cover Batum's absence short-term, but if they have another forward go down with an injury, they will have their hand forced.

In the NBA, does any coach have much say in the team makeup? Usually it's down to the owner or VP of Basketball Ops.

Dunleavy. Fingers crossed he will be relieved of the coaching side of things this season. :p

George Karl. How else does Anthony Carter remain on the Nuggets!?

The issue with Anthony Carter isn't so much "How is he on the team?" as it is the ridiculous allocation of minutes.

And with Camby traded to the Blazers for Outlaw and Steve Blake, Pat Mills now slides one slot higher up the regular full-strength depth chart at PG by default...

Marcus Camby to Portland
Steve Blake and Joel Przybilla To Clippers.
Now with another Guard gone, This should get Patty Mills some more game time.
What do you think?

Joel going nowhere...it was Outlaw.
Great for Blazers to get an experienced guy to teach Oden the tricks of the game, while still being able to put up double double numbers night in night out.
Outlaw is a good upgrade for the Clips; well, he will be when he is fully recovered at least.
Blake is an ok back up, and does some nice things when needed.
But clearly Portland got the best of this deal.

Miller and Bayliss will play PG and Mills will sit on the bench.
