There is nothing specifically in the rules to explain how the referee should handle this situation. Therefore, it is governed by Article 46.12:
"(The referee will) have the power to make decisions on any point not specifically covered by these rules."
In other words, do his/her best to make it right. If it means putting time back on the clock, then that's what should be done.

And vice versa, if the scorebench neglects to start the clock... :?

yeah, basicly I told the referees that time was lsot and bench told them it was true etc.. and the referee didnt let them put time back on the clock and we wer left with 2.8 seconds instead of 9 seconds - in the backcourt

Did it make a difference to the game result? Just out of interest...

at that point it was a 10 point game heading into 1/2 time

it pretty much came from, it was a close game until players were fouled off... if u goto expertise part 2.. it has a link on the last post.. that has some ppls thoughts.. but yeah, its mainly jsut talk of the bball town, some have gone as far to accuse one certain individual of cheating.. clearly that is a bit rich and one eyed, but yeah, i tihnk you get my drift of the controversy...
