I'm exactly 165 without shoes on. So, all this time that I've claimed to be 5'5 I've actually been embellishing a little.
Fark, I'm short.

You make me feel better about myself Cezar. I used to be 5'6", but with time I'm now down below that (167 not 168). Makes it easier to tell my 193cm husband and 181cm son that I AM NOT SHORT!

It says 172 on my driver's licence, but I have my doubts :?
Aside from that, the fact that I keep company with some tallish basketball lads, always makes me feel much much shorter...

YES!! im 6 feet just! awesome, this will look much better in the books than 5'11. But height means nothing if you have a killer jump!

I'm 6'2 but would be a bit taller after physio straightens my back up.
And, using the conversion above, I now know my BMI is about 23: apparently not bad (esp for a lazy coffee-drinking, sweet-tooth with no exercise program?)

Did all this remind anyone else of the episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, when he finds out, that contrary to what he had thought all his life that he was 6 foot flat, that he was in actual fact 5'11?

Well 6ft looks alot better to the coaches then 5'11 for a forward and maybe a block player. I never thought 6ft was that tall to guys, lol, the sad thing is that im not even close to being the tallest in our team, height has always been something that they ask me about in the basketball world and the taller you are then the more i can play the taller positions i guess.... (except on buses, i always manage to hit my head on the top)

guys 6 foot is tall, way above the average male height in Australia or any country. Though they males are taller in generation Y than generation X.
Average male height would be 5'9.

mate look it up its a common known fact. The average male Aussie and US is 5'9...maybe even 5'8.
In asia it's 5'6/5'7.
You dont expect the aberage male height to be 6 foot aye? The tallest is in some European nations at 5'10ish.

Actually I did that. I found that the median height at around age 30 for white males is 178cm. By comparison females are around 168cm. Hence why I asked.

It is actually 2.54cm per inch, which doesn't seem signification but over 6 feet, it accounts for nearly another 3cm. That's why 6 feet is not 180cm.

A couple of years ago when I was shooting around with my son, this little guy asks, "Can you dunk it, mister?" I looked up at the ring and pointed to the sign on the backboard (Dunking Prohibited) and, with all earnestness, told the little guy, I wasn't allowed
But the little guy bought it 8)
But seriously, in this weekends SMH, one of the number facts (under Dr KArl's column) was that the avg male height was 178cm.
But is that because there's all these old short people around and they're living longer?
Steph
04-07-2005, 08:07 PM
i think you are right. I'm 6ft and there's like 1 in 5 guys who are shorter than me (those that are my age and older that is). .
178 seems kinda weird, i would thought it would be about 183ish..
Also depends if they took out outliers....Interesting results though..
