Least it is all sorted a fair while before the season starts. I guess we will be expecting a typical Gunners team for this year!

It's a little concerning that the Cannons consortium couldn't raise enough funds for an SEABL team.
No, from what I undertand, they couldn't raise the money for what they saw as required to run the SEABL team. The Cannons consortium 'vision' included playing out of the AIS Arena, having a paid roster and a more entertainment-based game night presentation.
The Gunners have operated as a local team, playing out of Belconnen for the past 8 years and Tuggeranong before that, and as the support act to the NBL Cannons before that. They have a proud tradition of all-local amateurs playing against semi-professional teams, and put on a great night of men's basketball.
Obviously the two ideals of the Cannons versus the current Gunners are "poles apart", and IMO Basketball ACT could do more to encourage and foster the men's game in Canberra, but again in my opinion the answer isn't in trying to wind the clock back to the good ole' days, when in reality the world has moved on, and the landscape is so significantly different
Elite Men's Basketball in Canberra, is definetly nearing a most significant cross-roads, and amongst the myriad of factors that will make-up the future direction include:
- the National Underpinning League;
- the sustainability of the Capitals;
- availability and suitability of a 1.5 to 3 k seat venue; and
- growth in the economic support and/or possible rationalising of elite sporting teams in Canberra.
I think once these four factors are more certain, you may well see two NUL teams (one of each gender) operating out of Canberra, being equally community and corporately supported, definetly better and more equitably (across the genders) funded, and most likely playing out of a venue that is operated by Basketball ACT.
When, now that is the question....
Just thought I would throw it out there and get people's thought's on the league going to 3 ref's in the mens league this year?
Does the league need 3 ref's?
Does the league have the depth of ref's to do it?
Factor
07-01-2010, 03:01 PM
The league needs and deserves 3 refs, but to be honest unless they bring allot of them upto speed real quickly on the mechanics and areas of responsibility its going to be messy.
Realistically there isnt many refs in Vic (let alone elsewhere) who ref 3 man mechanics on a regular competent basis......
Its going to put allot of pressure on the level 1's to look after games...

6 eyes are better than 4 eyes is my logic. It might take some of the refs (and players) a few games to get use to having them. It just makes the league more professional and should decrease the amount of mistakes made. In the long run it is definately for the best and will give more refs the chance to referee in SEABL.

From what I am hearing already this SEABL season shapes uP to (possibly) be the best one ever.
Many teams are seeking quality imports, far more this season.
Looking forward to it immensely.

I agree with curious. It is looking to be a very good season with almost any team being able to beat the more established/bigger teams.
I think it might be a very long season for Albury and Canberra. The AIS (in another short season) might find the going tough as well.

Interesting reading I think

Generally no teams have their rosters complete.
Bit early to judge with most imports not concluded, let alone all local content decided.
If all goes as I am hearing, it may be the best SEABL ever.
The crunch will be that some of the potential import signings live uP to the expectations that they already have O/S.

Braves have 2 spots available.
Geelong 1 spot, Hobart 1 spot. They come to mind immediately. I am sure those involved with their own clubs can confirm what import vacancies still exist.
I am hearing of some (potentially) exciting imports to be announced.
BTW. Some teams haven't even started full pre season yet!!!
Yet others are training many times a week. This SEABL season could be the toughest on yet.
I also hear Daniel Egan will suit up for the Heat as well.

Heat are in Qld, sorry competing in the ABA, my error.
All teams have 2 import spots available. Long AFAIK is back for his 3rd season. I don't think Hobart have ever utilised the 2 import option (yet) ;)
Not every team can afford 2 imports (except Geelong ) ;) year in year out.
Braves to announce 2 new imports, plus Daniels as an Aussie will make them favourites ;)
Great times ahead me thinks for SEABL / ABA fans.

Probably the reason the WBL is rumoured to be going back to 2 per game.
We had one and sometimes a second up to scratch per game, plus a smokey for the third who usually had no idea.

Id call 'trying' to sign Lester Strong as poaching.
I didnt know of Payne going back to the bandits. He probably enjoys playing with those guys more anyway as most are mates he grew up with.
Will be good to see Briglia get some decent minutes. I think he might go close to a starting gig with the Bandits.
So far Bandits gained -- Bright (import) Payne, Briglia (in principle) and have a 2nd import position available.
Lost - Lockett, Williams, Quinn, Watson and Gange.

and lookin at the gains, understandin that not all are locked in, i would say that they much out weigh the loses from last year...obviously have to wait and see what bright is like, but reports are positive, other import is a question mark, briglia is a solid player who has been stuck in a deep team and payne if he returns will offer more than quinn and gange put together! possibly watson will be the only major loss...

Like who? ... there is absolutely no-one - except for Matt de Koeyer (who is currently on holiday OS, no guarantees he'll play when he returns either) on the current roster that Payne has previously played with, let alone grew up with. (Aside from Briglia at Knox, obviously).
If Bandits can sign Briglia and JP Wilkinson, to go along with Bright and another import big, then that's a handy frontcourt rotation.

MW, wouldn't be poaching on a player (Strong) if he was out of contract, which he was. Same could be said for Kilsyth and Lockett if that was the case.
Briglia will start for the Bandits and will have a good year. Daniel's solid and like you've all stated has mired on a deep team, opportunity to play will be the key for him.

I thought Nick Payne would know more than just Matt Koeyer. I thought he would know Hales and Oates as well (if they are still with the team).
Isnt de Koeyer the captain? Id expect him to be back from overseas by then surely? Who would replace him as captain? Payne?
I wonder if Albury will go with an import PG this season. Without Watson and Lockett it seems the logical position to get an import. Good to see Albury giving some of their juniors a run if Jack Duck gets a game. If he contributes half as well as his sister did then he will be handy player. Id rther see Duck get developed then bring back an older guy like Mckerrow anyway.
I think the big loss for Albury was Gange ---doesnt seem to get rated but he can play.
Kilsyth never poached Lockett ---Lockett was told by Albury that unless he got his knees checked out then they wouldnt sign him. As it turned out he refused (so the story goes) and he went to Kilsyth.

Oates didn't play last season as he switched to footy.
Broady Mills has also switched to footy.
De Koeyer has been living it up big time O/S - Hangover style ;) - so who knows what sort of shape he'll be in when he gets back.
Duck was on the roster last year and got limited minutes but should be ready to make an impact ... he's got talent and a good head on his shoulders.
Watson is the big loss for mine, simply out-hustled everyone else on court and scared people with his incredible guns ;)
Also, if Payne does return, it's not likely until at least around Easter.

McKerrow was a very serviceable guy and as they have lost for well at least the 7-8 years i've been watching didn't think it'd be such a bad idea as to get someone back who could actutally help. No offence to anyone involved with the program i.e Smitty, but there just clearly isn't depth of junior talent to pick from, in A-W. Apart from De Koeyer in the last 5-6 years I haven't seen a junior come through and hold a spot. So recriuting must be the only way to go.
I don't feel it's about development with these guys due to the lack of junior talent, so if Duck can get a go then great be he'll have to contribute in a big way due to lack of depth.
I think the big loss for Albury was Gange ---doesnt seem to get rated but he can play.
A shooting guard in a point guard's body with a shooting guard's mentality and, if you spell Matt Gange you'll find there's no "D" in it.
Kilsyth never poached Lockett Never, ever said they did. I said "If Albury had gone after Lester - which has been reported - then with him being out of contract - which he was - it wouldn't be poaching! It would be the same situation as Lockett signing with Kilsyth, an out of contract player going to another club" - NOT CONSIDER POACHING!!! Maybe you should have a good look before replying!!! Lockett was told by Albury that unless he got his knees checked out then they wouldnt sign him. As it turned out he refused (so the story goes) and he went to Kilsyth.

Nick Payne is another Albury junior who has held a spot, albeit he did leave. Still another player (and very good) who has come through the system. They have had a few guys leave for football too.
Albury I heard have just started a program to develop youth talent for the Bandits. I think its the way to go and better than recruiting talent that stays for a season than leaves. Hopefully someone like J Duck can get 10 minutes a game this season.

None taken, I have no involvement with the program.
MW, yes, Oates did play with Payne and was another who came through the system and then quit to play footy full-time. Hales is now living in Bateman's Bay, and he never played with Payne in any case.
And you think they need to sign an import PG? Good lord, did you actually watch them at all last year? They were constantly monstered by bigger teams. No, I would strongly suspect they'll get another import big to go with Bright and take their chances that teams try to beat them from the perimeter.
And I agree with bambam33, Watson's defensive presence will be sorely missed.
They'll give a few younger players a legitimate chance to find their feet at this level over the next three years. The bigger question for me is how many of these players will actually be good enough. But you can only try.

Yeah smitty was only able to watch the Bandit men play 2 times last season -- a good win over Kilsyth ---and another game where they got murdered by Knox. LAST season they had Watson at PG and with his departure there is a huge position to fill ---possibly most important on team. I watched the Albury girls about 5 times though lol.
My suggestion for an import PG is because Watson has left as has Lockett, and no real other options (Payne maybe?). In the games i saw Watson and Lockett did the majority of the PG work.
They do lack height I must admit, so will be interesting if they prefer another big or PG. I do agree they were beaten by bigger teams last season. Could get ugly though if you dont have a good PG. Id much rather have payne at SG.

In the games I saw Ferris was definately the centre and had his best game of the season against Werner/Kilsyth. In this game Williams was injured (missed about a quarter with a blood nose if I recall). Lockett was taking the ball up and nailing threes with Quinn all over the place. Watson did play the majority of the PG though in this game.
The game against Knox Lockett was used in the post a fair bit, but the game was over in the first 5 minutes.
The reason I said Dowdell was because he almost returned last season (I think the Wildcats contract negotiations stopped him). He has been a dominant player in the past and at around 6'8 wouldnt be bad to have.
Question ---Do you really want Matt de Koeyer to start at PG and have Duck as the back-up? Id being saying no.

You're right, but the problem would be money. They're paying the imports and that's it. That's why the likes of Briglia and Wilkinson need to find work before they come up here. The club can't afford to pay anyone except the imports and I doubt Dowdell would come down from Qld to play for the love of the game.
In answer to your question, well, those two could well be the starting backcourt for round 1, with de Koeyer at SG. I'd rather have that backcourt with 2 import bigs thanks. At least that way they won't get murdered inside.

It's not an ideal backcourt, but I really think young Duck will surprise a few people this year.
He's had a year in the system and seems to have a level head, not to mention speed and skill.
I might be horribly wrong, but local development has gotta come up trumps eventually ;)

Point taken, but they can't do that for 40 minutes can they? Big teams don't get any smaller ...

I dout very many teams will need to press Albury for 40 minutes anyway :)
Will be interesting what position Albury use for their next import. Thinking about it Im kinda surprised they signed up Bright as 1st import (a SF?) when I thought they would try an get someone taller.
Means Albury possibly look a bit like this at the moment.
C - Import?
PF - Briglia,
SF - Bright, wilkinson, Asquith
SG - Payne,
PG - Dekoeyer, Duck

Firstly, Asquith has never been a SF, and secondly, has signed with Chiltern to play footy this year.
And thirdly, Payne will not be available - and that's assuming he is coming - until end of March at the earliest.
Make Wes (de Koeyer) your starting SG for now, and that's assuming he plays when he gets back from his liver destruction of Europe ;-)

I must admit the positions of the Bandits are hard to put down as they have many guys who play a few positions. Who are the returning bandits from last season then? Anyone apart from DeKoeyer nd Duck (who got like 3 games last season)? Sam McDonald? Webb?
Another long season it looks like.
Damn I think I could get a game for the Bandits this year! Would they need a 6'5 rebounding forward? lol

McDonald and Webb will both be back at this stage, as far as I know.
Bobby Tye, who sat at the end of the bench in the last couple of years with Jim Wilson at the helm, has also been training with them. Depth, as always will be a critical issue for them.
So, yes, in answer to your query, they need height. Lots of it ;-)

Pioneers are looking OK on paper. I think they might cause a few upsets this season if they can gel. The new import might take pressure off Rice and Jeffree in terms of having to score as well.
Spartans again looking strong as well again with Cannon, Edmonds, Vanderjagt all returning. The team is also in talks with Demos, green, williamson and goulding. Either way looks like Brisbane will be up there.

the bandits have signed Travis Gabbidon as their 2nd import for the season...and have just about finalised their squad for the 2010 season...i would expect a nice article to come from smittsy pretty soon...
having looked at his youtube highlights, he looks rather impressive!!! looks to have a bit of flair about him...
now just gotta hope the bandits can put it together in the next 6 weeks and hopefully provide a lil bit of competition....
here is the media release i received:
I would like to announce on behalf of the Coaching staff and Board of the
Commercial Club Bandits the signing of our 2nd import for the 2010 SEABL
Season.
Travis Gabbidon is a 201cm (6'7") 100kg (200pnd) Forward from the
University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA).
Travis graduated last May and during the 2008/09 Collegiate season had the
following stats:
32 Games - 12.6 points/game @ 40.7% - Free Throw 70.1% - 6.4 rebounds/game
- 1.7 assists/game - 1.3 steals/game
We are excited to have secured Travis as he will add some well needed size
to our squad but also brings versatility being able to play both the Power
and Small Forward positions. Travis is a very athletic young man and is
sure to bring some great intensity and excitement to both ends of the
court.
Travis has told us that he loves the game of basketball and wants to learn
and develop everyday. He loves playing up tempo basketball and using his
high pressure defence to kick start an exciting transition style on
offence.
Taylor Jenkins (Assistant Coach Austin Toros NBA D League) said that he had
a chance to watch Travis at the D League tryouts and San Antonio Spurs open
gym sessions during 2009 and was impressed at how hard he played at both
the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
The Assistant Coach at UTSA, Jeff Renegar spoke highly of Travis. Coach
Renegar coached Travis at Junior College as well as UTSA and said he was a
terrific young man and will work very hard at his game as well as help
develop other players around him. Travis has a great work ethic and brings
it to every practice session and game.
We have recruited two imports this season that along with Dan Briglia, JP
Wilkinson, Scott Hare and Todd Dalton will give us one of the tallest front
line rotations we have had in some years. Add our local back court players
in Sam McDonald, Jack Duck, Bobby Tye, Caleb Martin, Chris Maclean, Chris
Merrilees, Dean Bensted, Matt Asquith, Aron Pantano and hopefully Matt de
Keoyer when he returns from his overseas trip and we have a squad that can
compete in the league this year and also develop with a vision for the
future.
bambam33
29-01-2010, 08:50 PM
Travis does look the goods, also seems to LOVE taking it to the rack and getting the bumps.
Fernandez Lockett loved to throw it down last year but settled for a (inconsistent) jumpshot more often than not.
I think if Travis turns out to be a star, Albury Stadium may be renamed from 'The Hideout' to 'The Gabbatoir' ;)
any word on what canberra are doing this season. heard initially they might being going to pay some players but since the LJ deal for the caps this has apparently changed. any truth to that?

Albury certainly haven't lost anything from last seasons squad. Bobby Tye who has played in the CBL for past few seasons will be a really nice addition. He can hit the open shot and from what I hear has been training down the house. Although he is basically unheard of he will be in the running for some serious minutes.
Caleb Martin will also be another player to watch. He will probably be up there with the quickest of point guards in the league, he will compliment Jack Duck nicely off the bench.
Another guy who is on the roster is Aaron Pantano, I think he played in youth league 1 last year and played afew champonship games as a back up to Rhys Carter for Latrobe City. They did an article on him in the big v news letter and it was mentioned by a few coaches that once he gets fit he will be one of the best pure shooters in the league. If I remember he had 55pts in a bigv preseasons game.
I think these guys can certainly come in and really surprise a few people with their input throughout the season, but only time will tell. Anyone know about any other layers on the team?
Cheers

The team is definately a much younger team than last season and although they lack a bit of height have some talent on that roster. Will be interesting to see what positions Henderson and Dez play as both can play a few positions at this level.

Watched Sandy v Bendigo today @ 2, believe their was a couple of games @ 7 as well. Nuna pulled out due to lack of numbers.
For the record - Bendigo by a couple. They played hard. Probably at full strength i'd say. Sandy only had Dillon, Conn, Kye Patrick and Craig White were the regulars. No idea who the lefty (#14?) was for them any ideas anyone? Played some kids who looked ok? Taylor and Dejan someone? Any ideas anyone? Have to add Crosswell and Damien Ryan?? And Garlepp didn't play either.
Braves import - the shooter? Legit! Made probably first 6 from the floor and is a dead ringer for Mike Kelly! Not sold on McPharlin, competes real hard, still not sold on the complete package. Randall made a bunch of 3's in the 3rd and Tanner was solid. Other than that i could say they didn't go to deep.
Plenty of coaches in attendance as there was some mini conference on as well.
Any ideas on results tonight?

That s huge news from mt Gambier. The article states that kevin smith directly cost them the sponsership but doesnt say how this occurred which is odd. I was actually surprised that Mt Gambier were going to sign him again anyway as thought they could get a better import, but to sack him now is disgraceful. No other team really has any import positions available now so you can rule that out, unless he goes to a BigV club.
If money was the factor then im surprised the 2nd import was kept. Obviously they feel the 2nd import is more valuable to the team.

Sounds to me like the sponsorship deal fell through and that money had been allocated to pay Smith.Doesnt appear Smith has done anything wrong, its more of a case of poor management on the Pioneers behalf. No point spending money you dont have.....All SEABL clubs have there import quotas as far as i know so the best he could hope for is Big V,WA or QABL. Poor form by the coach to not ring the player personally.Makes recruitment in the diffcuilt because the club has lost some face.

Nothing to do with poor management, word was that Smith had been signed on big money and with Scotts recently unable to continue it was unfortunate. Can't see Smith being a short term fix as he apparently had massive problems getting visa approval last year. Missed quite a few early games for them. Also heard from teams in Adelaide that his pre-season form has been not great.

McFarlin looks like he will be a good player. Has good size and with Tanner will give the Braves a good frontcourt. The intensity of the game wasnt very high so hard to say how he will go, but he definately looks like he will be a force once he gets used to the league. It seemed both teams were more than happy to just have a bit of a run round and experiment a bit. Pretty much what is expected of a practice match.

Gets up and down OK. He had one nice dunk and has a nice 10 foot jumper, he got a couple of threes as well. Supercats good until the half but lack of depth (no Herbie or Reardo) hurt down the stretch. Should be OK once they gel a bit more and get the rest of the starters back.

Some interesting observations from SEABL off-season transactions.
- Damien Ryan in the league for Sandy. Could be trying to get a NBL gig next season?
- Knox and Geelong have a few D league/youth players on their roster. Should mean that John Philip should be close to starting for Knox.
- They fail to list Joe Werner as a departure for Cobras lol.
- Thalo Green no longer with Brisbane. Could mean they chase an import

Pretty good game. Geelong started in a man and had 31 scored on them in the 1st quarter, and quickly changed to zone. AIS were shooting the lights out with Igor H and ALdridge the main men. Geelong got back into it with strong play by muhammed, which included a massive right handed dunk on Mitchell Creek. Muhammed is amazing, he just hangs in the air for so long. The 2nd half was tight all along, until Geelong really struggled in the last 2-3 minutes. A suspect charge call on Muhammed ended there night, and AIS knocked down their free throws to win it down the stretch. Cox's last secondshot wasnt close at all.
J'Nathan Bullock was OK, not very tall but built like a brick. He got bailed out alot of his drives, hence the high number of free throws. Will be a solid import! if he was 3 inches taller, he'd be a monster!
Geelong didnt go very deep, and the coach played the 5 on the court for long stretches. Will be tough for them to back up tomorrow night!

Why were the ex-Tigers not playing the second game of the Tassie road trip?
Some interesting results first up and some very close games decided by just a basket or less. Does changing to the 40 minute game bring the competition closer.
Did Ballarat have players missing as they didn't looked to be too competitive against the Braves - surprising considering all the hype with getting Guy Molloy to Coach.

Yeah Tom Greer not in action last night either for the Spooks. What's the go with Melbourne? They couldn't have their dinner last week or even two weeks ago?? Dicks!!
Anyway checked out the Spooks and Raiders last night. Not a bad game. Both teams looking rusty, Knox more so than Nuna. Nuna looking to gel more than anything. Knox having an interupted pre season with the 4 guys out to Qatar. They'll be right though. Might take a couple of weeks though. So Lester started in normal fashion with a few massive dunks. If he had 14 points 12 were on dunks (or so it seemed). One massive alley oop from CJ on a break. CJ was good as always, Sean and Mick Hill were good as well.
For the Spooks, Shane McDonald was excellent all night. Don't think he missed on a triple. Scratchy performance from others. Leonard looked good in spots, so did Chris Cameron. And Paul Flynn did really well when he was on. Matt Hall looks to score in the right spots, needs to adjust to the officiating, and he'll be solid.
They hit a couple of big shots when they needed to - Leonard and Cameron. Todorov set up a couple of important baskets with great hustle plays too on D.
Dunno if they'll have Tom back for today. Could make the difference if he plays.
How's the tips for the weekend? I know mine are up the shit! (Stupid Tigers dinner). Anyone tip the Pioneers to win??

Just a wild night at Albury, ladies trailed 36-16 in the second quarter and then came out smoking for the second half ... looked like Sandy ran out of gas a little, Camino looked a little rusty and Nicole Hunt had just 4 points and 5 TOs I think.
And then the men trailed by 10 in the third qtr but there's no quit in this year's team. Bright, Briglia and Gabbidon all huge for Albury, Tariq's three to force OT was re-donk-ulous.

Kilsyth Cobra's men and women teams both came from poor starts to win their games.
The Kilsyth women were led by Smith but she was very turnover prone in this game ---the stats showed she had 16 turnovers. However she was trying to create a lot of the time for her teammates and it also took a while for the lady cobras to gel.
Manou was in foul trouble early but she adds a toughness to the team that they have been lacking for a while. She will be a very good player this season.
For Knox Megan sinclair had a great game and got some good minutes. Probably the best game Ive seen her play.
Good to see the lady cobras look positve on court. Team harmony looks much better and it looks like the team really enjoyed the game tonight.
In the Mens Lockett dominated the game. He was the standout by far. He had a few fast break dunks off steals and also created a lot for teammates and got them into the game. Henderson played a 'tagging' defensive role n CJ all night and CJ didnt get many open looks. I love watching the CJ/Quincy match-up and even though Quincy didnt do much offensively he still kept CJ to a pretty average game.
Knox really seem to be missing Payne and Briglia. They offered a lot and Payne made CJ's job easier as he was a great shooter. Good to see both playing good at Albury.
Tim lang also did well after a pretty bad start. He and De really hit the boards hard tonight and he had the better of strong overall.

So I caught three games on the weekend. Started on friday night with Braves and S-Cats. Braves are legit from what i've seen. McFarlin's not the superstar the reputation comes with but man he plays hard and is a glass demon!! Luke Meyer is a great offensive threat and I reckon very good defensively. He made the Cats D - which has never been anything to write home about :), look silly. Bullock is wide and I caught my first look at Muhammad as well. I wish they'd use them more, they both look like they could be great players. Muhammad exploded at one of his teamates at half time - anyone know what that was about?
Thought Braves should have won by more, Cats were never really in it IMO.
Caught 3 quarts of Dandy v Frankston on Saturday. Dandy were really good I thought. i think their squad is pretty good and if they can pull a few upsets could be a suprise finals campaigner. The import is good. He finishes well and his back to the basket game is solid. Lucas Walker has a good all court game at will be very good at SEABL level. And Campbell is a definite upgrade on Godfrey. They were very stiff to lose by the sounds, harms with one for the ages on the horn.
Frankston definitely not as deep as last year and after Runchey went down early it left them very small. Briggs is not as good as Gruber IMO and he is the biggest omission from any line up in the L this year. Harms will have to be Ironman this year and if he goes down, so do the Blues.
Finally on to Sunday and Braves v Spooks. The wooping started at the end of the 2nd. Tanner started to take the game on late in the second. might have scored ten in a row for the Braves and combined with the Spooks inability to get on the glass either end. Started to build a sizeable lead. It continued after the break as it seemed the Spooks were keen to get back in the game the easy way - by the 3 ball. It was a shame they couldn't hit one. Combined with the Braves trap and it was curtains for the Spooks - no matter what they tried. Impressed with the Braves guards and again Luke Meyer again, along with Hogan. thought Hall tried hard along with Kennedy for the Spooks.
A full on weekend...

Whats the go with the Spooks - get Knox by three in the first game then Greer plays the next two games gets 2/15 & 2/11 and the team can't get a decent score only in the 60's. They were 9/22 from the foul line against Brisbane and go down by 3 points.
Just looks like they are making up the numbers again - I thought they were building a stronger squad for this year.
Something just doesn't look right with this group - most were there last year so there should be an improvement you would think!

You blokes have no idea, the team has 7 new players and all are trying to find their feet. Doing this at practice is one thing, doing it in games is another. In summary you guys are in no position to judge so keep ya mouth's shut.
While the kid may be the innocent paying the price, it's good to see that parental interference in the process can come with an ongoing price. As smitty said heaps of teams have lots of new players this season. Some teams have completely new starting 5's compared with last season. Great to hear Dan Joyce is dominating practice probably being matched up on some 16 year old kid.
Reardon will be a huge loss for the Supercats. He had a complete game and was probably one on the best players to not play NBL. Would of liked him to play out the season but that life.

Might have helped if Harms had scored.
3 shots and zip. He's never been shy on pulling the trigger.
Very strange.

Great game last by the SuperCats, new recruit Bullock played a fantastic and exciting game. Ismail was fairly quiet. Capt Cox played a great game but fouled out late in the game.
Their effort in the second quarter reversed the lead after their poor first quarter.

I'm not prepared to write them off yet.
A 32 point loss to Sandy won't help them.
Spectres over Rangers by 10.

I just KNEW that would come up at some stage ;)
Way to respond to a thrashing ... and the Rangers have some issues of their own to deal with.
With a bit of luck in both instances it might be a case of the chickens coming home to roost.

Kilsyth Cobras sign Gardner Webb college returnee Auryn MacMillan.
MacMillan was always a near certaintly to return to his roots...will be interesting to see how he goes after a pretty disappointing senior college season.

Cobras seem to get lucky with signing returning college players who are centres - Cameron, Lang and now MacMillan in the past few seasons.
Agree was a near certainty but Cobras will look god in May when he returns.

The Supercats won an exciting game over Sabres last night, 106-75
In the first five minutes the Supercats scored 21-6.
It was great to have Nathan Herbert back scoring 15 points for the first quarter.

Miners drop both this weekend.
D Joyce was 4/15 over the weekend.
Totalling 9 points.
Tonight he was 1/8 FGA and 1/7 3PA and 0/2 FTA.
People wonder why he gets so much shit.
What the hell was Molloy thinking.

For a guy who is a poor shooter he likes the three ball. Every time I see stats like this I just cringe at the last second fluke he made to sink the Hawks in Wollongong the season before last.
