View Full Version : Any predictions for the ECC Tournament?

The East Coast Challenge starts tomorrow in NSW with U16 and U18 boys and girls teams from VIC, NSW, SA and ACT competing over 3 days.
Is there anyone who is more knowledgeable than me who has any predictions for who will take it out? Or is it something that VIC Metro are expected to win every year? It seems they won it last year.

Wouldn't surprise me if Vic Metro blitz as usual. I still remember the first ECC - Vic won 17 games and drew 1. Lost none.

No one seems to be posting the scores anywhere that I can find.
You would think if we'd do the "Australian Baptist Basketball Carnival" we'd do this tournament :-)

NSW Metro 1 scores an impressive win over VIC Metro 2 in the 18 Boys this afternoon, 49-45.

Matchups were:
Round 1 (Morning): NSW 1 v NSW 2, VIC 1 v VIC 2, SA v ACT
Round 2 (Afternoon): NSW 1 v VIC 2, NSW 2 v ACT, VIC v SA

Victorian teams were noticeably more physical than the NSW teams, with ACT being outclassed in all but the 18 Boys - the 16 Girls were thumped from pillar to post by SA.

Having said that, some decent talent on display - tomorrow will make for some interesting watching.

Thanks for the update. I would very much have liked to watch this. But couldn't justify the time or money. And I was counting (hoping) on online results.

Somebody told me the results were online but another search has brought up nothing.
However I did find this interesting thread on the SA hoops.com.au that might be of interest and it has all the scores for Wed.

Well again I can't seem to find any results on line yet.
But word of mouth results for the grand finals seem to be;

U16B - Vic Metro d NSW Metro

U16G - Vic Metro d Vic Metro

U18B - Vic Metro d Vic Metro

U18G - Vic Metro d Vic Metro

I don't want to appear to be gloating too much, but it is a fantastic result for Vic Metro.
And I hear that the U16 boys team that didn't make the grand final was on paper the stronger team - so they've got some work to do there it would appear.
