An experiment.

I'm testing something I'd like to run a bit more often, because I enjoy doing it- live chat during games, including commentary.

During the game tonight, you can click here (http://www.coveritlive.com/index.php?option=com_altcaster&task=siteviewaltcast&altcast_code=8867a74ab0&height=550&width=470) and get a live feed of the game, updated as quickly as I can type. I used to use IRC for this, but it's a bit primitive/esoteric/un-user-friendly these days, so I figured I'd give this a shot. If it turns out to be crappy, then whatever, it didn't cost anything.

The rules:
- please don't ask for the score, the automatic scoreboard feed will update as fast as I can type
- feel free to jump in and add any details you think I missed, I'm mostly only doing play-by-play
- feel free to discuss/chat/cheerlead as much as you wish; treat it like a Game Day thread
- no probations or points apply, however I will ban you from chat if you're being a dick.

If that pop-up link doesn't work head here (http://www.ozhoops.com.au/).

Great idea Derek, worked well

Pity Cussy put his head in the opening shots of the gane....

Worked fine! Do it again!

(Beat the crap out of IRC...)

The best thing is it's still there! I had a migrane last night and had to go to bed early. Very excitement!

Very impressive effort, loved it.
Not having the page refresh to the last entry every so many seconds like the FIBA live-stats does, made it a real pleasure for me. I couldn't keep up with Drek's typing, but I was able to coast along at my own lack of pace without having to find where I was all the time.
Very much appreciated.

Is this happening tonight?

Game 2 commentary is now archived here, so you can see what it looks like. (http://www.coveritlive.com/index.php?option=com_altcaster&task=siteviewaltcast&altcast_code=6ea5777720&height=550&width=470)

Sadly I won't be around for game 3 due to other commitments.

Just so we're clear, the posts from Cussy, my mum, or my fan, had nothing to do with me.

Funny shit though.

Dang, I thought your Mum was hot.

Yeah, was hot. Now her bingo arms sag more than her boobs.

The Bingo Arms make good speed balls...

It was nice of her to drop round though.

Your testicles make good speed balls, when they aren't being used as cough lollies at Kings fan club meetings.

So OTHER than enabling the Cussy family reunion, what other comments do we have?

I enjoyed the experience, it was good to interact in real time.

good stuff drex. Would be an awesome thing to have more often. Maybe a benefit of plus subscription, only 10 bucks!, and have volunteers so you don't have to run them all.

Another super effort Derek, very much appreciated.

It went down hill when Cussy drained the backdoor pass, but the game call was brilliant stuff. ;)

My main observation is that it probably needs a team of two to run the commentary- having to do play-by-play AND update the scoreboard was a bit of a pain, not helped by not being able to Tab across between the different parts of the interface.

But I like doing it- we might look at doing it for the Worlds or something in August. If I'm not doing my annual trip at that point. :)

That will be very cool if that can be done. A play by play and a score/stat keeper could work, otherwise you could try 2 play by play guys, 1 watching for each team.

Could run trials on NBA games if you need to get some playing time in.
