Vic metro for men and women.
In the men, final either between Vic Metro and Vic Country, possibly NSW Metro.
In the women, Vic Metro and SA Country, possibly SA Metro.
But this is just based on form from Ulverstone last year in the U16s, who knows what form the teams are bringing in this year, and hopefully Swine Flu wont go through the teams!
The only thing that can be certain is that Vic Metro teams will be strong as usual!

Tough to call but based on two years ago and the presence of numbers in the AUS squad, Pool A looks like the Pool of Death. Victoria (6 in the 20-person squad including 4 @ 6' plus), SA (4 in the 20 and another in the 25 though not quite as long) and Qld Sth (3 in the 20 (including 2 starters from Brisbane and the dominant player in the age group). Only two can progress to semi-final stage so no room for errors in this pool.
Hard to see who comes out of Pool B with Tas, ACT and Qld Nth both having dominant talls who unfortunately may not enough support (based only on Kalamunda 2 years ago) to get it done while NSW were carried to 3rd two years ago on the back of a dominant guard.
My tip - the third best team to 5th!!

Alex Wilson for SA Country is impressive. She scored 13 points 7 rebounds in 19 min against NZ today.
Also Gretel Tippett for Qld S. 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, 16 points.
Tomorrow they play at 11 on court 1.
Whoever is posting the Women's Pool A results needs a kick in the *rs*
They lag about 24 hours behind Women's Pool B
And it's the pool with Vic Metro in it

You can always refer to the Livestats page for the full stats if you can't wait...I do!
Thanks for that - solves my little problem - probably should have worked it out for myself though .

That's certainly how the wheelchair draw appeared to work but NSW (winner of NSW v Vic game) will play WA in the grand final - WA were unbeaten in the preliminary rounds and must have gone straight to the GF.
NSW M U18 Women were undone by SA M's 3-point shooters (11/28 attempts) compared to NSW a paltry 4/11.

Great gold medal games.
Women - Vic Metro beat Qld South 65 to 64.
Men - NSW Metro led most of the game, with Vic Metro taking the lead with about 1 minutes to go.
NSW Metro had a timeout. They were going to foul with about 27 sec on the clock, but then the coach said to wait.
They played defense, causing an air ball from a 3pt shot. Offensive rebound and then the shot clock violation.
Timeout with 7 seconds remaining. Chircu for NSW inbounds at half court. Passes to Dumovic, who passes back to Chircu, drives to the basketball and gets the ball knocked away by Riggs. Timeout Vic with 3.7 seconds to go.
Ball inbounded, Overs passes to Hill. 3pt jump shot. Basket is good. 0.7 seconds on the clock. Vic inbound, catch throw up prayer but nowhere near it.
NSW metro win.
In bronze games, Vic Country won in the men and SA Metro in the women.

Ahhhhhh Shorty. So glad the ball was in his hands with the game to be won. Best kid I ever coached.
After viewing footage of the dying seconds, its fair to say.. It was a very CLUTCH shot. Good hustle shorty.

Did the VIC coach lose the game for them by calling a timeout with 3 seconds to play which allowed Watkins to set up the play?
What about the defender going under the screen?
It's easy to pass judgement and lay blame after the event but I have to say I thought the blonde guard from VIC got his side into a winning position with his relentless defense.
I think this was the best junior basketball game I have ever witnessed.

"Did the VIC coach lose the game for them by calling a timeout with 3 seconds to play which allowed Watkins to set up the play?"
Does seem odd! Would be interested to know if the NSW coach had any time-outs left. Did the VIC coach give them a 'free hit' to set up the winning basket. Does seem bizarre to me.

NSW used their last time out to set up a play with 8 seconds to go. Woko was frantically trying to call a play to the boys as the ball was deflected out with 3 seconds to go when the VIC coach gave him an early Xmas present.
