Great signing. Been a while since we've had an actual NBA player come as an import yeah?

It's like when a ranga has the surname Redhead, or when a farmer has the surname Farmer. I'm pretty sure we can all guess he has a blacock.

There have been loads kicking around summer league but not actual NBA players. I'd agree with what you say

The other guy, Freeman, is coming Phillipines, which is the same place as Chris Williams yes?

Big Ranga could flourish with a new environment as well. I like the team they've put together.

I mean Phillipines might not be the greatest league but Freemans averages were, from memory 22 and 15? So even if its a half decent league then he's gotta have some talent.

From memory those averages are higher than what Rosell Ellis or Galen Young averaged in the same league. So looks good. I LIKE this team. They got what they want in Blalock, as his apg from d-league etc. show. Season tickets please!

William Anthony "Will" Blalock (born September 8, 1983 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American professional basketball player for the Townsville Crocodiles.

He usually plays the point guard position.

Blalock attended Iowa State University, and played for the Cyclones from 2003-2006, declaring eligible for the draft after his junior year.[1]
He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the second round with the last pick (60th overall) in the 2006 NBA Draft.

In the 2006-2007 NBA season he played in 14 games and averaged 11.9 MPG, 1.8 PPG, 1.1 RPG, and 1.2 APG.[2]

After playing with the summer league team of the Denver Nuggets, Blalock signed overseas with Hapoel Jerusalem, but was cut from there after several games.

In early 2008, Blalock was back in America, playing on the Anaheim Arsenal, the D League affliliate of the Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Clippers.

In July 2010, it was announced Blalock had signed to play with the Townsville Crocodiles in Australia for the 2010/11 season.

Excellent signing, provided mattic still doesn't consume alcohol at games. It'd be a dangerous, but undeniably easy slip of the tongue in a moment of excitement for him to scream out Bollocks, which to the uninfirmed may come across as offensive. ;)

This is a top-notch signing indeed. He's an exciting player to watch too.

I wonder what the story was there? I didn't think the Israeli league was overly strong.

Mark Tyndale was running around the summer leagues. Noticed he had some ok games.

This signing looks good for the Crocs. I have a Reno Bighorns bias though. Just love the name of that team.

Really, don't bring that one up again -- it's a sore topic. Apparently the team in Israel still regards Blalock's contract as a hollow cost.

He claimed that the team told him that his work would make him free. He even complained about the post-game showers.

(I'm wondering how many we've offended so far and I'm going to stop right there!)

Give me some credit, I wouldnt get Jason Crowe mixed up with Rob Rose or Lanard Copeland!! At the very least Crowe played the pre-season games with the Clippers.

As for Blalock, I like his assist numbers, indicates he should be able to work with the big frontline and create some shots for their array of shooters. Given their arent a lot of guys in this roster who can create their own shot, his assist numbers are a good sign at least.

His European stints werent impressive, but there can be a lot of reasons for that ie brought in as a back up, couldnt get used to the culture shift, temperamental coach who didnt like them. Ubaka had struggled in Europe, but he was pretty good even if inconsistent last year.

Blalock is definitely in the wait and see pile for mine though.

7.7 Assists per game in recent times. That's a lot, right?

The squad now assembled shows alot of potential

If the imports do their job as advertised, they will be a force to rekon with.

Gleeson"That is a pretty damn good competition and if he can average 12 points and six or seven rebounds in our league, he will be outstanding," Gleeson said.

So he'd like Blalock to grab 6-7 rebounds as well?

pretty sure based on everything he has said they are looking for, he either said (and was misquoted) assists, or said rebounds and meant assists. But hey, 6 or 7 rbs from the shortest guy on the team wouldn't be bad either!
