NBL GM is back for another year. Think you have what it takes to build the best team in the NBL? Here is your chance. NBL GM lets you show off your GM skills and build your franchise in to a NBL Powerhouse.
Choose your Starting 5 and a Coach to lead your team to glory. The catch? You only have $1,000,000 to play with. Earn points for each player’s performance every round and for each win your coach notches up.
DUNK Basketball is back again this year with some great prizes. Major Prize being a set of custom uniforms. Choose your own design and DUNK Basketball will have your team outfitted in their own premier shimmer fabric jerseys and shorts, with embroidered team logos, NBL GM Champion 2005 insignia, and your choice of names and numbers. Prize valued at over $1000 recommended retail price.
Good luck to all GM's playing.

Soul Glo - not sure if you're aware of this but www.nblgm.com (http://www.nblgm.com) (I had this address bookmarked from last season) and http://www.nblgm.com.au/ aren't configured. Great site!
I spent $991,000 in Week 1 and I picked Andrej LeManis as my coach!

If my players increase beyond the $1,000,000 do I have to get my team back below the threshold before the next week or is it just good by me to get a team that WAS below $1,000,000 but has now increased in value?
(If you can decipher and answer that someone, that would be great!)

If a player goes up one week, he is still payed what you signed him for. If you sign another player tho, yo can only sign him for his market value.
Same goes if a player goes down in value, you still have him signed on your books for what ever you signed him for until you sign him for his reduced rate.
(If you can decipher that )

Why is rookie Cam Tovey worth so much?
Cause he was given a value for the first round or 2 to rank him. And I wasn't too sure who he was and just gave him a value, which happened to be higher then everyone else. So if he's worth it, he'll stay there, other wise he'll drop down to a reasonable price after the first week.
Breakers' Clifton Bush and Brent Charleton are rather pricey!

Does it affect my points if his team does poorly?
Nope, it's all individualy based. If you picked Aaron Trahair and he happened to have good stats, you would get points for his individual efficiency.
But if you pick a coach, and his team stinks it up and loses, then you get no points for your coach that game.
Why is this in the NBL forum? :? Don't you guys have a whole other forum to play this stuff in?

Don't remember, and not sure I have a copy lying around... i accidentally deleted it I think.
I'm pretty sure Rjd won tho.
I think it's heaps cool cos you can either pick someone consistent or sporadic, but it 's hard to know week by week what to go with.
It's hard to know if certain players will have a break out year like corletto, holmes, peter crawford or markovic.
Or whether you can rely on the older guys like mee, maher, saville, jsmith.
You have to factor in playing times ie how much they share with other team mates and weigh up how much of an impact certain players are going to have.
The other 'difficult' factor is of course the imports.. who's going to be good this year? It's hard to know with quite a few new names this year.

Once we are a month or so in, many guys will be having similar teams. I think it will come down to being able to pick who will have a big game against which opposition, and taking a few risks here and there.
is it common practice to make lots of changes as the season goes by?
Perhaps out of laziness but also for the sake of testing it out, as I've never used it before, I will try keeping the same team for the entire season and see how that goes.

different people have different ways of doing it.
Personally i think you've gotta be up to date to do well.
why are players priced differently when at a different position.
For example:
Neil Mottram is $109 000 if you get him playing as a centre (which is not his prefered position)
whereas in his prefered position as a powerforward he only costs $82 000
that doesn't make sense?

soul glo gives players different amounts at each position because their 'salary' is calculated in comparison to other players at that position. so while motts might be the 13th best centre, he's probably the 18th best pf so that makes him cheaper as a pf. and while picking him as a pf would be a lot cheaper, you'd theoretically miss out on a better bunch of players by doing so. of course it doesn't always work out that way, but its a quirky dimension of the scoring system that i like.
i prefer to make weekly changes and finished like 3rd or 4th despite forgetting to do a round or two last season. i have a feeling there was a highly ranked person (rjd?) that did well with only minor changes though? i dont want to give away the obvious advantage of weekly changes to those who havnt worked it out yet though

I have a database doing everything for me. Usually takes one round tho to tinker with it and get it running smoothly..
But the scores are up for Round 1: the black pearl was the best of the GM's this week with 129 points.
Dusty Rychart and Gary Boodnikoff are the NBL GM Players of the Week with an Efficiency of 32 for Round 1.

Well some players have 2 positions - one main position - and one alternate position. The price you pay to get them in their main position would cost more than if you bought the player from in the alternate position slot;
e.g. Lindsay Tait is $127k (I think) as a PG and $136k as a SG (I think).
How much are each of your players?

Try Glove's FNBL side - he's got Ben Castle - no points in 3 games; Matt Campbell - one half-decent game in 3; Ben Knight - 4p 6r in 1 game; and very little from Neil Mottram in his 2 games...hence unfortunately our Canberra correspondent is running dead-stone cold motherless in Division 1.

Gees some people will be doubling their score in this round. The "Cliffhangers" are losing grip of that top 5 position me thinks...

a very poor effort:
Rucker - 62
Copeland - 20
Majstrovich - 5
Brannen - 18
Bradtke - 65
Wright - 10
Total: 180
Not only did the Bullets drop 2 games, but Copeland, AJ and Brannen averaged just 5 efficiency pts per game for that round.
Brannen - 18
18 over 3 games. :?

Anybody know if there is a boxscore available for the Adelaide @ Cairns game? I'm one score short of being able to update the past week's round of GM! :?

There isn't. Sportal gave up and published results in their NBL Dream Team fantasy competition without the stats from Cairns-Adelaide.

Bugger. I'll hold out until tonight or even tomorrow morning and see if they decide to whack a boxscore up. Otherwise I'll update the round minus the Adelaide @ Cairns score. Sorry to all who had Adelaide or Cairns players picked, we might be able to get their stats up later on if a boxscore ever comes to hand ....
Gosh!
I want to know how Farley went! when am I going to have the full update?
Why is the NBL taking so long to have a boxscore. They've officially told us the result right?

From Sportal:
Due to a disputed result in the Taipans V 36ers match, no
stats have been released for this game, and as a result
they have NOT been included in the competition. The final
result is currently under appeal, and all Round 3 results
WILL BE RECALCULATED as soon as final statistics are
available from this match.

I think there will be many a manager this week scratching their heads wondering why they wouldn't have held on to Tucker and/or Redhage in light of the price increases after round 3. Gotts take a hit early for long term gain peoples. You'll learn.

Adelaide @ Cairns boxscore now available.
Hence, I have now been able to update Round 3 of GM!
Please note that Round 4 will be locked a little earlier than normal tomorrow, at appx 5pm EST.
Cheers.
hmmm dropped to 13...
Bloody Brannen, what's wrong with you!
should've gone with my gut instinct of choosing Newley instead of Farley!
Still loads of fun though.
this week spottys dogs looks like this
a olson
cj bruton
r tucker
s redhage
r roberts
b goorjian
and im $156000 under the cap!
currently sitting 48th
go doggies go!
oh that's a VERY good team.
And obviously you picked it before the end of the 3rd round as you can't afford all of them if you were to pick it now.
very clever of you.

18th and rising for S500! things are looking a lot more competetive this year though. especially with everyone posting their details on here. i've retained a couple of cheapies, but i reckon too many leaves you a little too inflexible

Yeah I'm keeping two and being flexible with the other three + coach.
NZB's Team up from 171st after Week 1, then up 93 places to 78th after Week 2, and up another 50 places to 28th after Week 3.
And this week, anok, my team can't be posted
