Pero Vasiljevic is now available in both leagues as a restricted free agent, with bids for his services closing at 5pm Wednesday 2 November, which is the deadline for Round 10.
Please PM all bids for Vasiljevic to me by 5pm Wednesday 2 November.
Vasiljevic will be considered to be a centre for FNBL purposes, hence FNBL sides are reminded that the 2 centres limit still applies to all team line-ups.
FNBL sides are also reminded that you must nominate a player to be dropped from your side as a part of the bidding for restricted free agents.

Why is he a centre?

That was my question. He won't be playing there when Horvath comes back, or while Cornette is there. He's always been a forward, he would have been starting at the four spot for the Pirates had he not gone overseas in 2003.
But the commisoner has spoken :(

I for one agree with our overlord's decision. :)

When there's already a dumb rule limiting the number of centres on a roster (but not enforcing any minimum number of forwards or guards on the bench), it really is extra annoying when misallocations like this are made.
Dear Razorbacks,
We have received notice of your intent to sign Pero Vasiljevic. Unfortunately, as you already have centres Joel Cornette and Nick Horvath on your roster, and we consider Vasiljevic to also be a centre, approval of the signing has been refused on the grounds that you would be in breach of the two-centre limit.
Best of luck with the rest of the season,
Rick Burton

Hence my trade post. Same thing happened to me with Crosswhite.

At least Crosswhite does play centre (it's not like anybody else on the Kings roster can). This is just madness, compounded by an already mad rule (arbitrarily made up by a guy who isn't exactly demonstrating that he is a rotisserie basketball expert  ).

Well, let's just say I'm happy to give a reason for anything that I insist is "right". That's a pretty good start.

I have no problem with Vasiljevic being tabbed as a centre if there's no maximum on centres. A maximum number of centres that can score points makes sense, but a maximum of them on your roster doesn't.
All IMO of course ;)

The centres rule (as we all know) is to stop people from hoarding centres, who are (as we all know) notoriously hard to obtain.
Pero will play a significant number of minutes at the 5 and I consider that to be his primary position.

They're hardly notoriously hard to obtain when you're designating every bloody new player over 6'6" a centre.
So why not make it that you can only DRAFT two centres, and abandon the rule after the draft, when everybody should have plenty of centres?
Or even better, screw the rule altogether, and if people see centres disappearing like they're West Sydney starters, maybe they could spend their next pick on drafting one, as is the case in all grown-up fantasy leagues

What if he plays the majority of his minutes alongside Horvath and/or Cornette?

I intend (a la Lucky) to get in Wocko's ear and ensure that Pero plays the 5 all the time...even if that mean he has to transpose all his plays with the "5" replacing the "4"... 8)

You do realise that I'm going to post all the evidence I can to back up my claim he should be a forward for the rest of the season? :)

At least there's no rule saying you can only have x number of forwards on your roster.

Exactly, if that rule wasn't in place I'd have let it go. But I already have 2 centres.

Would you prefer I institute a rule stating the all teams with an owner called "Stumps" are automatically docked 10 competition points?? 8)

Why not? Some of the unilateral decisions thus far have been just as farcical.

I might not bother with Pero in case there's a new rule instituted next week about having more than one useless hacks on my team since I've already got Pepper and Rogers.

I've been on tenterhooks waiting for the introduction of the "No more than two guys with a surname starting with C" rule, as I'd have to drop one from Crawford, Calvary and Cooper :x

In Division 1, McKinley Norsemen pick up Pero Vasiljevic, and drop Paul Rogers.
In Division 2, Skindog's ConnoHawks pick up Pero Vasiljevic, and drop Ben Castle.
These players become restricted free agents, with bidding closing midnight Sunday - separate thread created for this - all bids by PM to Skindog.

Pero Vasiljevic is now available in both leagues as a restricted free agent, with bids for his services closing at 5pm Wednesday 2 November, which is the deadline for Round 10.
Funny.
My understanding was that when picking up a free agent, on the deadline, you had to wait until the following week before putting him in your lineup.
Because theoretically, the moment he is signed, you wouldnt have time to add him to your starting lineup because the deadline has passed.
Am I wrong?

Depending on the situation, some RFA's are able to be utilised in the upcoming round (such as Vasiljevic) and some aren't available till the next round (such as Ben Castle, who I dropped in Division 2).
As such, it is wise to read the instructions which apply to each RFA bid.
